about 2 months ago | Fixed the wiki: osm.wiki/w/index.php?title=Key:sport&oldid=2915316
about 2 months ago | The "name=" key needs to exactly match what the place is actually called and have no additional descriptions. There are other ways to disambiguate, including the "operator=" tag. See osm.wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only
2 months ago | When a restaurant or shop closes, it's better to just remove the tags that are no longer relevant, than to delete the node entirely. The address still exists at that location, even if there isn't a restaurant there.
3 months ago | Hello! Please use the changeset description field to describe specifically what you changed—for example, "Replace sidewalk:left and sidewalk:right with sidewalk:both", or just "Upgraded sidewalk tags." You can see more examples here: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
3 months ago | That tagging is approximately what I would have suggested. Thanks!
3 months ago | The office is still there, it just isn't generally open to the public, or requires an appointment. disused:office= means there's no office there at all anymore.
4 months ago | Hello! Please include in your changeset note a description of what you changed and why. For example, "Added buildings, pitches, and driveways from imagery." More examples at osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments . Thanks!
4 months ago | I still think it's a misinterpretation to call a tag "wrong" just because of a minor wording choice on a wiki page that someone wrote. A tag is only "wrong" if it incorrectly describes the real world. OSM doesn't have a strict schema, the wiki is only there for guidance.
4 months ago | I feel like that's an oversimplification. Like, shop=sports : > sport=* if shop focuses on specific sport or sports It's a qualifier tag that specifies what sport is associated with a feature. If it's a feature like leisure=pitch where sports are played, then that sport is played there. You usually don't play sports at a shop=sports but you can use sport=* on a shop=sports to say which sports equipment you can buy there. Similar to cuisine=*, which is usually used on amenity=restaurant/fast_food, but can also be used on shop=supermarket, even though you don't always eat food at a supermarket.
4 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Please be more detailed in your changeset description; for example, "aligned driveways to aerial imagery." See more examples here: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
4 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Could you please be more specific in your change message about how you're modifying the roads? For example, "Remove incorrect 'sidewalk' tags." See here for more examples: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
4 months ago | I don't think this is a good idea. natural=wood should be for forests, not canopy cover.
4 months ago | Oh, I got it backwards, you just removed the sport= tag. I don't really know if that tag means you can play a sport at a place—it's used to specify which sports a sports store covers, for example.
4 months ago | Is it? When I surveyed it in person it looked like a place where you'd buy pool tables, and that's reflected in the name, and on a website that seems to be them.
5 months ago | You can tag a street that has a different name on both sides with name:left=* and name:right=* name:left=*
5 months ago | Hello, please use the changeset description to describe what you changed and why. For example, "Added building details, from aerial imagery." You can read more examples here: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
5 months ago | Hello, please use the changeset description to describe what you changed and why. For example, "Added addresses to parking lots around stadium, from survey." You can read more examples here: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
5 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! As general advice, if you're not sure how to do something, you can always ask in one of the many OSM communities https://openstreetmap.community/ , or leave a note using the 💬 button on the right-side of the web map.
5 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! OSM is a map of every thing on the world. Please be careful when editing other objects—way/38216383 was an industrial area, not a single camera, and way/826812901 was a house. It also helps to leave descriptive changeset comments, describing what you changed and why; for example, "Added ALPR cameras by referencing street-level imagery." More examples here: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments
5 months ago | Also, the roads still have "access=private" on them, so software will assume that the roads aren't passable, even though the gates are.
