Several years ago, and at the invitation of "Aurthor Houston" (an alias he uses when involved in this kind of thing) I helped build and then became curator of the trail system along the North and East side of Oyster Creek in Missouri City. I ran a lawn mower and packed dirt for a couple years and made route changes at the request of the homeowners along the creek. It soon became obvious that only two or three people were using the trail and sporadically at that. Move forward to now and the tail is completely non existent. No one, including myself has done any trail maintenance for more than two years.
Recently, I started exploring my neighborhood and the surrounding areas on bicycle and seeing this trail system in OSMAnd was bothering me. I kinda felt guilty about letting it go fallow. So, instead of going out and trying to restore the trail, I went into Openstreetmap and removed it!
There are other trails locally that Arthur and myself, along with others have created, including trails in Oyster Creek Park and Lost Creek Park. These trails have become sanctioned park trails and receive regular maintenance. Sorry to report, I haven't been involved with that from about the first year after the GHORBA group got involved.
