over 8 years ago | stop posting that as a name
over 8 years ago | Sollten auf Busstationen echt Betreibertags dran?
over 8 years ago | St. Stefan im Rosental?
over 8 years ago | Der Brunnen ist ein Trinkwasserbrunnen, heißt aber nicht Trinkwasser. Sowas tagged man ohne Namen.
| 49985076 | over 8 years ago | Thank you very much.

over 8 years ago | The maps.me app often adds a name, a name:de and a name:en node with exactly the same text. That is the problem I have been cleaning up some of those in the last days...
over 8 years ago | you also should not tag redundaned local names.
over 8 years ago | That is a kiosk and not a gift shop. Also it does not need a name.
over 8 years ago | If the shop that is vacant at the moment is reopened, the generally a node should be updated instead of replaced. If the nodes got deleted already, then so shall it be, In that case as soon as there is a new shop, just map it as a new node. I think the vacant tag is useful, as long as the premise is recognizable as having been/going to be a shop.
over 8 years ago | Das Klettergerüst heißt nicht so. Das brauch keinen name-tag.
over 8 years ago | Und hab ihn auf die Linie des Hauses gesetzt. Ich nehme mal an er hängt aussen? Oder steht er irgendwo drinnen?
over 8 years ago | Ich werde es mal auf operator umtaggen
over 8 years ago | Da der Bankomat selber eher keinen Namen hat ist das eher der operator ;)
| 49195990 | over 8 years ago | So, v1 ist the old public_transport scheme (version 1) v2 is the new one (version 2) ON the north stop, it could be on the platform node. But only as long, as that one stays a node. As soon as the platform gets tagged as a line or an area, the tag would have to be moved back to the stop_position. In order to avoid that, I map the legacy tag always on the stop position, as this is, where it will end up eventually, as long as it is not becoming deprecated (Which, yes, should happen at some point). And generally, there is a way of knowing. Any app would do a simple Overpass-api-call, and could render the platform. What you see on the slippy map is not everything. There are many renders out there. So some of them might actually render platform tags. OSM-carto doesn't, but this one render should not be the one thing we map for.
To the topic of what an application and also a slightly more advanced osm-user would see, you could go to overpass-turbo.eu and query for nodes with "public_transport=platform" tags in Vienna. That gives you, what an application would be able to see and also render. Or see the Query built in to OSM (the Question-mark on the side) that can give you the platforms position as well). So as long as it is tagged as something, you can find it. The bus_stop tag is a last "gift" to the renders and apps. Hopefully they update that at some point to comply with the public_transport:version2 scheme... Then it would no longer be a question where to put this tag... |
over 8 years ago | Is already mapped (as an area) And your node is tagged wrong. Deleted your node now.
over 8 years ago | And as OSM is a community project, you will find different understandings of tags, wiki-pages that say th exact opposite and so on. I think, that this way, how I now mapped the whole of viennas buses and nearly all of the VOR is the best looking way. Also, bevore 2015, when I began editing here, the bus_stop and p:t_v2 Tags were already partly used exactly like that. So I just used the local way to do it properly...
over 8 years ago | So the bus_stop tag is old, and now must be used on one of the nodes that should be rendered (for me tat is clearly to be the stop_position) untill it is finally seen as deprecated and all renders and softwares have moved on to stop_position and platform. So if you'd like to get to that point, start a discussion on the tagging or render mailing lists.
over 8 years ago | OK, I see that the wiki has conflicting info. I just tag it like this, as this is closer to the p_t:v2 scheme. nNd on the Buses wiki page it says: "If you like your bus stops to render on the main page, tag them additionally with highway=bus_stop. This shouldn't be necessary, but alas."
