Many thanks! I would like to add IBNR numbers to other stations in the Balcans (Kosovo, North Macedonia etc.) What database did you use to get the IBNR numbers? I see you referenced "DB API". Do you have a link for me to that API?

Many thanks for your additions.

However, you draw footpaths through houses. Also, simple sidewalks like in that case are not drawn in as footpath to not clutter the map. Please use instead of a path for the road the tag "sidewalk".

Off-topic:
as I am new in the city, is there e.g. a monthly meeting of OSM mappers in Sofia? I never met a mapper in person and I am interested to hear and learn.

> I've opened https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd/issues/22143.
Many thanks!

Thanks too. After reading this I don't understand why OSMAnd~ does not use it.

I corrected the transliteration now:
changeset/163982525

163947038 9 months ago

It seems OSMAnd~ uses
https://translit.cc/bg
if no name:en is given.
I got translit.cc as first hit when googling but this one does not follow the Bulgarian rules.

163947038 9 months ago

The remaining issue is that OSMAnd~ does not take int_name into account. Therefore if there is now name:en given, it displays "Cent"ra", so ъ becomes " '' " and Ц becomes "C".
Maybe you are connected with OSMAnd~ to fix this? For the time being it helps to give a name:en tag.

Thanks! So according to the law "България" is the only exception where "ъ" is transliterated as "u".

163947038 9 months ago

Just to understand it better. you wrote that the transliteration of the "ъ" is an "a", but in this case "лгария" would become "Balgaria". But en English it is "Bulgaria"
Here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Bulgarian#Features
I read that a ъ can be transliterated into different letters.

I live now in Sofia and rely on the app OSMAnd~.
I got as Latin name for the bus stop
"Cent"ra kv. IliJanci"
This also applies to transliteration services like
https://translit.cc/bg

OSMAnd~ does not take the int_name. Therefore I experimented to specify name:en And this works, I get in OSMAnd~ displayed the name:en.
Since it does not harm to also have name:en besides int_name. I think my change does not harm anybody but helps other foreign OSMAnd~ users.

Many thanks.
Regarding satellite, my recommendation is to use the Esri satellite images as Bing and other images are sometimes several years old, especially in Durres and Tirana there were many changes (houses demolished, now constructions etc.)
Esri ist at least in the cities max. 1 year old

Many thanks for your work. However, please only add what you verified. And also please check that your additions make sense. You added a lot of buildings on top of existing streets. This is not helpful for OpenStreetmap, here an example:
way/1307723655
The street is there since years and it is illogical to put a building on top of it.

160557192 11 months ago

Many thanks for your contributions.
However, you added several buildings that don't exist anymore. For example this:
way/1345286864
and
this:
way/1345243691
Please only add anything that you have personally seen.
I also don't understand why you add buildings while you see that in OpenStreetmap you see that there is a construction site and the building was demolished. There are also satellite images available (from Esri) that show the state as of 2024.

OK. But here there was no need for an immediate action. The nodes I deleted did not provide more info than that there is an ATM. In OSMand~ for example when you search for an ATM, you get results in both cases (separate ATM or atm=yes).
So there is time to give people a chance to discuss.
When you give people a chance to discuss, they can and will learn and not become discouraged.
Here in Albania we miss active members and one of the reasons are that there are few persons, who even no longer live here but still map and make immediate decisions/actions.
Back to my case, your argumentation made sense, i could have said "I agree", the other person in that discussion sees that too and I could re-add the ATMs on my own.

161726881 11 months ago

You don't get my point: You act before you speak/discuss/argue.
It is not that you don't have a valid point. You do, it is that you immediately act. You did not give me a chance to understand your points. In fact you are right, a separate node allows to map more. The point is that you immediately acted treating me as a stupid person.

Same that you revert things before you discuss them, is that your understanding of a community?
And what about this:
node/6938830490
then please also revert the change someone added the ATM not as a separate node.
If you punish me, then please the others too. I was just a tourist tried to help. I learned my lesson.

> I've reverted the ATM deletions.
So you are a decider, just do things without even expressing your arguments before you act. OSM is a community project, at least I thought so.
And as you are a decider, make decisions consistent. For example here:
node/7076939339
there was no ATM mapped but there is one. According to your logic all bank offices must then have a separate ATM. You have the power to do this. I was 6 days in Sofia, saw not a single bank office without an ATM.

161840364 11 months ago

Maybe the Bulgarian community has another rule but for several other bank offices in Sofia it is already done the way I did it - only extra node for an ATM if it is not at a bank office.

161840364 11 months ago

I was there on Friday, even in the UniCredit bank. Both bank offices have an ATM and the tag "atm" is for both offices set to "yes":
node/4980907524
and
node/4991181112
thus adding an extra ATM would be doubled. The "rule" is to set the atm tag for the bank office to yes and then not having an extra node for the ATM. ATM as extra node only when there is no bank office that holds the ATM.

Are you still living in Tirana? What about meeting for a beer or coffee? I mapped a lot in Tirana as I cycle daily (I try to keep my car parked whenever possible). However, I never met any other OSMer yet.
