This is my plan as well. Just wanted to get a first feeling. I have bought an excellent book (in German) about OSM which really pushed me over the edge from being interested into eager to participate.

Will map mostly my own hometown (hoping to make it as detailed as possible) as well as during holidays (this year: Hong Kong & Taipei)
