Caramoan

Posted by blackbravo on 25 November 2009 in English.

I traveled to this quite remote place in eastern Philippines on a motorcycle. Caramoan is situated more than 450kms from where I live.

It was concrete/asphalt road up to Lagonoy town. After this, things started to get really interesting. Rain made it too interesting for me as it was mostly dirt road with countless ascent and descent up to Caramoan town.

Fortunately for me, I was able to catch up with two riders from a nearby town going to same place where I will be going. We helped each other out in lifting, pushing our motorcyles out of the mud. If it weren't for them, I don't think I would be able to get to the town center before dark.

The next day, I went by boat instead of passing the same route as I was seeing nimbus clouds.

This place is well-known to some people because of the famous TV show 'Survivor'. Not sure which country though.

Caramoan is known by some people because of the French adaptation/version of Survivor.

Aside from France, Bulgaria also had a season of their Survivor there.

Seav, thanks for the comment. I actually started uploading tracks after reading your blogs. I revived my childhood motorcycling dream since last year and your post is a perfect motivation for me to revive my old Magellan as well. After designing an external power supply unit, I have nothing else in mind but touring... ",)

I'm glad to hear that our blog posts inspired you to contribute to the project. OSM really needs all the contributors it can get!

Have you seen maning's Philippine maps for Garmin devices made from OSM (http://esambale.wikispaces.com/osmphil_garmin)? He has an experimental edition for Magellan units (http://esambale.wikispaces.com/osmphil_garmin#toc6) and you might want to try that and help him improve it. :-)
