You and I might know the laws, but what about someone traveling from another country who wants to use OSM to plan a bike route? Just because we may not find certain data useful doesn't mean it shouldn't be added. What I’ve learned over my time mapping is that the richer the data, the better. There are some great projects out there that use this data. Personally, I love https://pianos.pub/. I don’t play piano, but someone made a website where you can enter your address, and it shows you the nearest public piano. |
| 138205798 | over 2 years ago | Hi, I noticed in this change set you deleted the following cycle ways;
They are currently being built (with physical separation) while it is not finished just yet. You are still able to ride on it. If you look on using bing satellite imagery you can see it. I rode on it this Wednesday (07/05/2023) Here is a link talking about the plan.
Here is link to picture I highlighted in yellow where the bike lane is being built with physical separation. https://imgur.com/gallery/1Vdp4s0 Then regarding
There is is no physical separation there for the most part so I agree more technically correct to remove it, but at one part there is physical separation. Here is link to picture I highlighted in yellow bike lane with physical separation. https://imgur.com/gallery/F7wW1RW . Do you think it is better to just shorten the way to contain just that part with physical separation or just delete the whole way entirely? I understand it is easier and more convenient just to delete the way, but you lose the history when you do that. Cheers |
| 127269588 | almost 3 years ago | I visited a friend while back here and there where no real clear paths here. I would say this is kind of a stretch to be mapping this. |
| 126593994 | almost 3 years ago | Hi, I noticed that for concord rotary you marked it as bicycles=no. My I ask why? The other day I biked from Elm street and needed to get to Barretts Mill Road. In order to do this I had to carefully bike around the rotary while not present to bike on I did not see any signs that would indicate someone was not allowed to do this. Here is my GPX traces from the bike ride: @bikingaround244/traces/5666516
By making it as bicycles not allowed it screws up route planning services that utilize open street map data to build bike routes. |
| 112430097 | about 3 years ago | I don't think that garden is the appropriate tag for the little chunks of land in between the park lot. I think landuse= grass would be more appropriate. |
| 128409624 | about 3 years ago | Im not sure I would call the court yards inside the school community gardens. "garden:type=community - Located in parks or other public spaces, community gardens are operated by an informal group of local residents. To some, community gardening is a leisurely social activity. To others, it is a response to concerns about food security. See Community gardening."
I think the grass tag might be more appropriate. |
| 126863192 | about 3 years ago | You did a great job mapping the YMCA and the memorial park across the street! Spent many many hours at this YMCA as a kid. Some of the edits might be stretching the truth just a wee bit... Reading your OSM bio you seam to have the right intentions of genuinely wanting to help and we appreciate that. an example of some truth stretching would be tagging this as a community garden. way/1099669851/history if you ever need any help feel free to reach out and ask!

| 125639313 | about 3 years ago | Hi Amazon, You marked this as all=private. This may be true for motor vehicles. I can only speak for bikes and foot this is not private. People are allowed to bike and walk down here it connects to the harbor walk and it. PLEASE do NOT change all=private. It says your source is driver feedback. Then only change for motor vehicles please. |
| 74340896 | about 3 years ago | Hammondswood Road you tagged as all private. Bikes are allowed down her as well as walkers. |
| 86691266 | about 3 years ago | this way (way/816350201/history) you marked as bicycles=no this is not true. same thing for this way (way/826552822/history#map=19/42.34793/-71.08541) I am changing this |
| 91134032 | about 3 years ago | Dalton St. (way/813340306/history#map=19/42.34568/-71.08424) you marked as foot=no and bicycle=no. That is not true. I am changing it |

| 126343294 | over 3 years ago | agreed there is no physical separation here :) It did break apart two important relations though something to be careful of in future. I added this connection bit to make the relations work again. Just wanted to let you know. (changeset/126400471) |
| 126155362 | over 3 years ago | There is a separate cycle path here. It is not unreal it not the best but it is real and clearly marked. |
| 124457304 | over 3 years ago | I disagree that it is "unfriendly to bikes" in a study done in 2015. " In the past 12 months, have you encountered issues regarding communication, courtesy and civility among bicyclists, pedestrians and others on the path that affect your use and enjoyment of the SWC pathways? If yes, describe. Over half of respondents say that they "rarely or never" encounter issues about civility or courtesy on the path.... and another four out ten say "yes, sometimes," and only about one out of ten say "yes, frequently." Also one of the major modes of travel down it is biking "Q1: How do you usually use the Southwest Corridor Park paths? (Check all that apply) When asked how they generally use the Southwest Corridor path, about 75% of survey respondents said bicycle, an overlapping 73% said walking, and another overlapping 30% said jogging/running" (http://swcpc.org/results.asp) ***I think the proper tag should be "Cycle & Foot Path” highway=cycleway along with bicycle=designated and foot=designated. Not highway=path.*** |
| 86490576 | over 3 years ago | that's cool with me just don't add bicycle=no please |
| 123982516 | over 3 years ago | Why are you changing it to path? |
| 86293286 | over 3 years ago | Hi, in this changeset you added the tag bicycle=no and foot=no to Amesbury St. (way/8614808/history#map=18/42.35430/-71.10496) Why? bikes and people are allowed on this street. |
| 86285667 | over 3 years ago | In this changset you added the tag bicycle=no to Blagden St (way/8645738/history). I have biked down this street before there are no signs or anything indicating that bikes are not allowed. |
| 86490576 | over 3 years ago | in this change set you added bicycles=no to Lansdowne St (way/8648014/history#map=19/42.34738/-71.09775&layers=G) I have biked on this street plenty of times along with a lot of other people. There is no signs indicating that bikes are not allowed or anything. I am changing it bikes=yes. |
