Aye, thank you.

Hi Biker69 you seem to be doing some non standard edits.

We do not usually use the name=* field to mark something a village.

That is normally the role of the place=* tag.

Also, reclassifying roads is often helpful, but you do not seem to be following Highway Tag Africa, the major reference for non country specific highway classification. Or even the regular OSM standards for road classification, which is based on use, not appearance or construction.

Please see: osm.wiki/Highway_Tag_Africa

for example the road you added and change is clearly not a track even by regular osm standards.

Quote from standard highway tagging:

"Roads for mostly agricultural or forestry uses. Note: Although tracks are often rough with unpaved surfaces, this tag is not describing the quality of a road but its use. Consequently, if you want to tag a general use road, use one of the general highway values instead of track."

@mueschel This appears to have been a mistake in uploading data to OSM. We asked the DWG to revert this. So a number of these tags are not intended to be part of OSM data.
Again, thank you for flagging it for us.

@mueschel Thank you very much for the heads up. We are follow up on this now. Very much appreciated.

Yes, totally my fault Pascal for the lack of answers, I should have made sure everyone understood that in the training. Fixing it and will do what i can to make sure that doesn't happen again. Thank you very much.

One building, nice.

57106361 over 7 years ago

@pitscheplatsch I am also looking into this and other similar edits. This looks like a training issue with folks contributing buildings and the instructions not being clear enough or translated incompletely.

As I said, I am working on this and finding other similar deletions and re-taggings in the area. Any pointers to other changesets with significant deletions or other changes to existing data would be helpful.

Please please do not just play with the map. All of these edits look like just experimenting, but you are affecting real, important data. If you would like to learn how to map, please let me know and we can find a way to help you learn to map properly.

Hi Mr@x Thank you very much for adding to OpenStreetMap.

I noticed you added a church, which is really helpful information to add. Usually the "name" field is used for the actual, full name of the church and there are some other tags for type or denomination of the place_of_worship.

If you could add the actual name and any of the other tags about what type of church it is that would really help. Even if you just put them in as a comment on this changeset, I can add them for you. Thanks again for mapping!

I think if you are going to accuse someone of vandalism, you should be pretty sure it is vandalism, even if that takes some time to figure out.

Otherwise, it is just bad mapping that is causing a problem. Vandalism has a pretty specific meaning.

But I appreciate your point sk53

@paul Berry

Newbie mistakes are not vandalism.

@SK53 thank you for reverting these kindly and letting people who can possible directly the contact the mapper know about the issue as well.

This should probably be a junction=roundabout, not a mini_roundabout as the center island is not able to be driven over.

@lucie123456789 Hi, I reverted this changeset because it looks like practice drawing and mapping. OSM is a live database so you can not really just draw lines and add tags to things to see how they work and then click on "save". Cheers, Blake

Hi leslymc4 - this changeset upload seems to be a mistake adding amenity=drinking_water to all these ways and nodes.

No problem at all, mistakes like that happen.

I am going to ask the OSM data working group to revert (undo) this changeset so if you were adding individual water points if you could please re-add them after the changeset is undone that would be really great.

Cheers,
Blake

Why did you delete the abandoned track? It is still visible in the landscape and meets the definition clearly for an abandoned item.

This is definitely not a stream. My previous waterway=canal was probably incorrect, but I think the proper tag is waterway=drain

waterway=drain

Just testing changeset discussions.

I changed the road affected by this changeset to unclassified as per Highway Tag Africa as it clearly connects villages and hamlets. Track would only be used for a road that went to agricultural lands.
