I think for the next mass edit it would be useful for the overall OSM project, if you could clearly state what you did and why you did it so that not everyone needs to dig through many mailing list posts. In fact that mailinglist navigation is awful, I assume not every OSM mapper is able to read the mails.

I quickly read the mailing list posts and it is still not clear to me:

* Why did you also remove manually set denotation=cluster tags (which were not from "the initial import")? How is that justified? So that tag is effectively forbidden to be used? You were reverting manually done edits by people to which you've got not relation or even agreement from them.
* You write on your wiki page that that tag had a purpose for rendering. Was there some pre-announcement to users of this tag?
* how many people agreed to make that big edit? how many opposed? In your links I only saw about four people writing, IIRC.
* This changeset apparently is too big for achavi and osmhv. Unfortunate... I would like to see where affected objects are (without clicking each node here in the changeset ...).

What does "Cleanup denotation=cluster objects." mean? Did you just delete that tag combination? Did you only delete it if x? Did you do whatever else? "Cleanup" is not very specific.

E.g. at node/970994104/history you have just removed the cluster tag although there is no fixme=set␣better␣denotation (as written on your wiki page).

access=yes ist wohl meist Käse, ja. Aber bicycle=yes an einem Service-Weg heißt doch einfach nur, dass Fahrräder dort erlaubt sind. Sinnvoll kann das sein, wenn eben ähnliche Service-Wege in der Nachbarschaft bicycle=no sind. Ja, für Datenverwerter sollte das üblicherweise keinen Unterschied machen, aber für Mapper ist es so klarer.

"bicycle=no an einem path ohne entsprechende Beschilderung" - ja, ohne Beschilderung nicht. Es geht ja um legale Zugangsbeschränkungen. Daher ja meine Frage, ob du denn die bearbeiteten Wege kennst. Bicycle=no für einen path ist übrigens doch kein "default Tag" (dein Änderunssatzkommentar). Dein Kommentar hört sich danach an, als hättest du ausschließlich pauschal z.B. bicycle=yes von highway=track entfernt. Hast du nur in einigen Fällen so gemacht.

Z.B. an way/161599403 halte ich das explizite Taggen für sinnvoll. Einige Leute sehen doch auch path ohne Access-Tags als verboten/privat an. Explizit es anzugeben schadet doch nicht. So weiß jeder, dass das auf jeden Fall ein erlaubter path ist.

Was in BaWü mit 2 Metern abgeht, kenne ich kaum, was du mit dem Tagging meinst, weiß ich daher nicht.

Alles in allem: mir wurscht was du hier machst. Du hast wohl nur eine handvoll Wege so bearbeitet, wie es der Änderungskommentar nahelegt. Wären die von dir entfernten Tags von mir gesetzt, würde ich mich ganz schön ärgern und vor den Kopf gestoßen fühlen (und das rückgängig machen). Sind es nicht, du hast dir das wohl gut überlegt, von mir aus, dann lass es eben so.

na gut, so viele sind es ja gar nicht, aber dennoch. Ich kann mir durchaus sinnvolle Einsätze der Tags vorstellen. Wie bist du bei der Löschung vorgegangen? Einzeln geprüft? Kennst du die Wege?

Nur weil auf dieser Wikiseite steht, heißt das doch nicht, dass du sie massenweise entfernen kannst?! - Eventuell fügte der jeweilige Mapper sie an, um klarzustellen, dass es auf jeden Fall nicht das Gegenteil des Tags ist (zum Beispiel weil alle Wege rundherum das Gegenteil haben). ---

oops, es war hier "cycleway yes". Aber dennoch - Radroute ist als Relation vorhanden. Mehr ist dort nicht.

nun auch wahrscheinliche Sinnlosigkeit vom (anscheinenden) Hinzufüger der Nodes per Mail bestätigt. War wohl ein Versehen.
