For the highway classification, indeed, some are based on physical characteristics (such as width and surface), while others are based on function. Specifically for "living_street" and "path", this has been a topic of discussion among local contributors in Indonesia.

When I first started contributing to OSM, I shared the same view as you — that roads with such characteristics should be classified as "path". However, as I continued observing and interacting with other local contributors, my perspective changed. I later switched to using "living_street" instead of "path" for narrow alleyways around one meter wide.

These small one-meter-wide roads are indeed not physically suitable to be categorized as a "street" in the general sense. But in the Indonesian context, "living_street" serves as a middle ground between the "residential" and "path" classifications. For "residential", we have a common understanding without much disagreement. As for "path", according to the documentation on the wiki, it is not compatible with motorized vehicle use (unless explicitly allowed). A "path" is usually unpaved and not located within a residential area.

This seems to be a special case in Indonesia, where in everyday life, we find many narrow roads that are in fact part of residential areas. Residents use motorcycles to access these areas, and delivery services also use these narrow lanes to deliver goods, either as destinations or shortcuts. This appears to be something quite unique to Indonesia. As a result, in major cities, most local contributors now tend to use "living_street" as a compromise — a middle category bridging "residential" and "path".

This topic has been discussed multiple times in the Indonesian local contributor community forum, but we have not yet reached a final decision — whether to adopt "living_street" with certain exceptions or wait for the "alleyway" proposal.

In the case of this changeset, I see that way/724491805 is still within a residential area and used by people riding motorcycles. For way/251887610, I agree that it should be reclassified as "path".

A sink island is an area where routing is hindered by issues in the data such as dead end oneways, breaks in hierarchy, access restrictions, etc.
You can find many of these cases in https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/49272 but be aware, not every task in this challenge is a sink island. Some of them are false positive.

Judging by the width of this segment, it is to narrow to be a tertiary road. But as a tertiary function, I think it can serve as tertiary road, although it is not a high priority road. In my opinion, this road is "unclassified" as it previously tagged.

Pada jalan ini terdapat tagging "barrier" yang melekat pada way, bukan pada node. Mohon bantuannya untuk mengkonfirmasi letak barrier yang dimaksud pada node. Dari informasi street level imagery dari Kartaview, tidak tampak adanya "barrier" dari sisi Selatan. Berhubung tagging ini berdasarkan 'local knowledge' mungkin bisa diperjelas lokasi barrier-nya. I used to tag this kind of "alley" as "path" but since there are problems with motorcycle routing in to these 'gang' then I start using "living_street" with additional "motorcar=no" as other contributor did in Indonesia.
In fact these 'gang' is different from "alley" as we know as a part from "highway=service".

Jalan masuk ke dalam sebuah fasilitas, seperti sekolah dapat anda tambahkan jika memang anda memiliki pengetahuan tentang hal tersebut, baik melalui satelit image, street level imagery ataupun local knowledge (pengetahuan lokal). Bisa menggunakan "highway=service" atau beberapa pilihan jenis jalan yang tersedia.
Geometri bangunan tidak seharusnya menempel pada jalan karena jalan pun ada lebarnya (bisa diberi tambahan tag "width=" dan "lanes=")

Please confirm this access tag "motorcar=no" in this way/575122379. From the satellite view (ESRI World Imagery), it is very clear that there are some motorcar in this road.

I am wondering if this way/780575239 and way/780573808 should be service roads to the Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Please check again.

I found this road (way/563721694) is wide enough for motorcar to pass (Bing aerial imagery). Is there any reason why this road is "motorcar=no"?

Sdr. ichsansy2901, sebelum anda melakukan perubahan geometri jalan/bangunan dll, tolong cek dan ricek posisi dari acuan gambar satelit dan bandingkan dengan rekaman GPS (jika tersedia). Perubahan yang anda lakukan seringkali malah membuat geometrinya melenceng dari rekaman GPS.
