They’re mainly intended as a demonstration, and as an aid to our mappers. Take a look at switch2osm.org for more information on this.

You can see a bunch of iOS apps on the link above (together with their features, such as offline data, map viewing, routing …)
I can’t recommend one, since I don’t own an iOS device.
