sorry mr niewnen, i have no intention to harm anyone in my contributions.

i believe you did not get my reasoning behind it, i try to always add it on my contributions, but i might forget sometimes:

"please update the relevant osm fields/tags so charging stations appear on organic maps and similar apps in the most useful way. proper maps are essential for ev drivers with limited range, like myself. we can learn from plugshare, open charge map, ionity, and greenway. read the manifesto on ahoxus.org/osmev for more details on potential actions. feel free! to contact [email protected] and best will be to just good old fashion call me t.me/acauema +48788487949 because i may miss emails and messages."

please let me know if you have any better ideas or some other way to move this forward.

thank you for all nice work and amazing feedback!

i will be very okay with people renaming them and moving around to right tags and all this. not ideal, but at least works for me, and raise more awareness of work needed there, in the osm community and elsewhere, than using notes.

and i do not want to use computers or big screens. i really just use them for now for work and money needs. so, no, osm maps on mobile are nothing like any usual software.

using ai and/or improving the ux in general can "make the rules extremely simple". it will come with time. look at how ubuntu itself evolved.

thanks for all your support!

will you also take care of this node?

yes, i use the map display for search results much more than the list.

i now see the wiki, and "If something really doesn't have a name, don't add a name to OpenStreetMap. Any additional information should be included in separate tags (see, e.g., aforementioned links) to identify its meaning." ain't so clear in case of stations...

all stations have names in their respective apps. sometimes the name coincides with the street address, other times they name them with more meaningful way to identify the station. just because they are technical names don't make them less important.

and more importantly...

while osm don't really have a standard way to qualify charging stations, why not at least use the name to add relevant data? knowing if a charging station belongs to lidl, greenway, or have some peculiar characteristic such as charging speed, etc makes a big difference.

i understand now names should not be used for that, but who will use charging station info on a osm map will most likely do it using organic maps and other apps that still don't follow any standard way to add and use information, like myself.

if they really should never get names on osm, perhaps still you could be so kind to double check if this is indeed the case and open an issue on om (as i do not use github). i could also add a comment to telegram group. and just use the comment instead...

still it will make it more complicated for me, because thee data will not be immediately available for me, and so i have to rely solely on my bookmarks, and hope i don't lose them, plus it will not really be shared until all this gets sorted out by the "entire community" properly.

i stand corrected on the mistaken info about om requirement for name. i guess i always only assumed it? unless they did change that at some point.

the name i added says nothing about "charging station". when i want to find a charging station, i need one that works for me and just "charging station" is not enough info.

i still fail to understand why you consider adding the name there a wrong data point. it does not follow that because i can find charging stations without a name that the name ain't relevant. it's like saying restaurants don't need a name.

just wrote and sent this on email, but i think the email got lost, so i will paste it here instead:

thanks for the nice and complete feedback, marek!

now i understand what you mean, and now on a big screen i can easily see what you did: removed the name from the node i added. and even with your explanation, i can not agree with this edit. i would either revert it, or perhaps find together a better way to do what i need. pretty sure it would help a lot of people now, and perhaps even more so in the future as well (although i hope there will be much better ways to charge ev in the future).

on mobile, my main and hopefully soon to be back as only computer device i have (got a new big screen for now, after 5 years without one), i only really have 1 good way to access osm for the past few years: organic maps. it is also my primary map for everything. (today i just learned about osmapp.org, but even if it does work 100% as it stands today, it still lags behind om).

also, i only added this point (and so many more) because i can do it from om. and it requires a name. so if you really want to improve this process, not only from me, better open an issue with them.

but searching for cs anywhere stands as terrible. plugshare has been my favorite app only because it has more data and ux woks. i kinda hate to contribute with it because it ain't open data and nobody outside of plugshare can really use their data. but there you can see a little bit of what osm misses. then i found recently 2 new apps that, all together, can paint the full picture of what i need in a map for charging stations: evmaps (from fdroid) and openchargemap. both use (the same) open data, and offer different important features missing from plugshare.

with all that said, giving a name to charging stations on osm is barely scratching the extra data needed for properly finding charging stations when needed.

make sense?

i want to understand what you mean, marek.

right now i have literally dozens, perhaps up to few hundred apps to handle charging my 100km autonomy ev car, and i really wished to find a better way because i probably use way more charging spots than 99% of ev owners and nobody else seen to share my pain points.

care to explain me better?

it was a mistake after all, wasn't it?
