But if we were to argue for the use of permit then every road and path in theme parks and national parks would have to be tagged by permit. I appreciate you sharing the history of how it changed to be more restrictive that prompted the change. |
| 54666658 | 21 days ago | I disagree with making all the roads and paths private chiefly for two reasons. 1) paths are rendered a grey and make it hard for the people on the fort to see them on OSM-carto style. 2) Strava and maybe some other apps will not permit routing on private roads/trails. This prevents people with access from using the apps. And I guess, 3) almost anyone can obtain a visitor pass. Other military bases only mark the section of road around the gates with access tags or none at all. Posting the discussion here so that if you see me changing the tags to remove it you know my reasoning. |

| 70751833 | 7 months ago | Hi, I just saw your additions to the Montgomery Bell State Park and noticed you changed it to National Park (about six years ago) so it would have a border. At the time you acknowledged that it didnt quite fit the description. I have recently conducted research for a county park near me and found that adding the "boundary=protected_area" and a "protect_class=5" will both show it with the green border and more accurately define the scope of protection. I hope you choose to "downgrade" your use of the national part tag to preserve it for items so designated while still showing off your resource for what it is. Best wishes and happy mapping! |
| 166447050 | 7 months ago | Excellent point. Looks like a remnant of the individual parcel tracks that I combined into the neighborhood. I’ll delete that when I get back to the computer. Thanks for pointing that out! |

| 162634692 | 10 months ago | Not an import. Tracing trails using the aggregated Strava heatmap and publicly posted signs of the trail system. This is a great addition to the map.

| 162643266 | 10 months ago | Not an import. Traced by hand from the USGS 3D imagery program. It is highly accurate. I have confirmed its accuracy with spot surveys.

| 89667755 | about 1 year ago | I differ to your experience and appreciate your contributions to the map. And your point on if the name of the attraction is spread over a huge area then it becomes hard to know where to go for the attraction makes sense. Thanks! |
| 158348713 | about 1 year ago | The wiki article does not talk about reefs preventing boats. I am not a scuba diver but I think some reefs can be pretty deep. The wiki also says they can be sand or rock or coral. I also used the reefs mapped around Cat Island as an example when I added the reefs around the southern end of Eleuthera.

| 158348713 | about 1 year ago | Yeah. I agree. I looked up the difference of shoal and reef. The reef is not usually above the water. Shoal said it was for shallow areas that became above water at low tides. From my survey it appeared most of that area was reef. To your point, there could be some areas especially near shore or rock islands that are shoal but the imagery only shows high tide. |
| 158348713 | about 1 year ago | Thanks. I’ll take a look at it and see if I can remove the reef from around the marina. Good catch. I was recently at the Disney resort on the southern end and learned about the long pier to get past the reef. So I was focused on that. Thanks for the note about the marina. |
| 158273948 | about 1 year ago | Not an import. Manually drawn from averaged gps tracks displayed on Strava Heatmap and permitted for adding to OSM.

| 158112337 | about 1 year ago | Yep. All good points. I didn’t copy any data from the map other than a justification in the note for other mappers to know it might still be there and hopefully confirm with future surveys. I had taken the name off the beach from not finding it on the published tourist map but restored it after reading the article that talked about the lighthouse and access to the beach likely being public. I’ll try to find out about the sentinel 2 imagery. I noticed the bing imagery is from 2022. And I haven’t seen anything more recent. |
| 158112337 | about 1 year ago | I found a new map I had not seen on the island that talked about how Disney donated about 190 acres of the 700 purchase for public beaches and conservation. I also saw on their Disney’s progress page a better map that does show planned work for the southern beach. I have restored the road and added the name back to the beach based on this info. Thanks for the tip. https://lighthousepointbahamas.com/progress/ |
| 157963392 | about 1 year ago | Added the features in properly this time. Lots of room for improvement. The mapillary ground imagery I captured is currently processing and should help create some of the paths. |
| 157963392 | about 1 year ago | Yeah. I messed it up. I’m home now and will clean it up in JOSM and get it updated for the community.

| 156534793 | about 1 year ago | Not an import. Manual cleanup of a previous import.

| 155978386 | over 1 year ago | Not an import. Just dedicated hand mapping from bing imagery following ground level survey.
