Discord is a well-known community server platform. It’s kinda like a newer, more souped-up version of IRC, and it claims itself as a replacement for Skype and TeamSpeak. Does OSM have a Discord server, official or otherwise?

I was thinking that this would be a better idea than mattermost, as it comes with text + voice, but I’m not sure how happy people will be using an external service.

Check out the wiki for a list of Discord Accounts for OSM. You could add yours.

Discord is great! Would love to see one for the U.S. or international OSM.

I agree, we need a US based Discord server.

Wouldn’t it be better to just have one discord, with multiple channels?

I guess that could work. The software would support many. So, are you suggesting language based channels with a couple break out channels for projects?

Yes, that would be much easier than multiple discords.
