| Editing Ennis of Republic of Ireland | Thank you for all the concerns and advises on copyright issue. I really appreciate it. However, I still have some confusion relates the copyright issue. In fact, I’ve sent email to the organisation which owns the map I was using about the copyright issue, and I was informed that I’m allowed to use their data while editing OSM. However, I’m not totally familiar with all the copyright rule relates to OSM. Does the mail from the organisation mean that I can be totally free in using their data? Here below is the mail content between us:Hi there Ying Li Thanks for your email. We’re happy for you to use our info when editing on OpenStreetMap. Where possible a reference to our maps should be used, but I know that is not possible in all circumstances. Many regards and good luck John Rice Dear Sir or Madam, I’m recently thinking of contributing to OpenStreetMap (osm.org/#map=5/51.500/-0.100) community, whose main project is to create and distribute free geographic data for the world that everybody can get access to through internet. I was travelling in Ireland in May 2012 and I still keep some maps from that trip. One of them is a guide map from GLANCE. I checked your website but I didn’t find any information about copyright or how other people can reuse it or distribute it. Could you tell me the type of copyright of GLANCE guide maps? Can I use it as a source data when I’m editing on OpenStreetMap? Thank you very much for your time! Sincerely, Ying Li |
