UK Cycle Shop location checking

Posted by Welshie on 13 November 2010 in English.

Shaun McDonald's rather useful Bike Shop Locator has reached a milestone. I've just got the count of unmatched bike shops down to 2000. Still a long way to go, and it really does need people with local knowledge, as some of the shops listed have since closed, or changed names, moved premises and so on.

If you know of bike shops near you, pop along to the locator tool and check that it looks right in OSM.

Hi. Just checked my local knowledge and it turns out the node is missing a name in my case, which I can fix. But on the wiki page shop=bicycle it doesn't say what the tag names are for the other information provided in the bike-shop-locator.How should I tag:
# Type: Specialist Retailer
# Hire facilities?: No hire facilities

Thanks.

At the moment, it's a case of cross-checking one list against the other. Once we have that done, and we can match entries in the list with OSM node IDs, we can worry about tagging things like hire facilities, or type.
