I hadn't even noticed that I'd classified the new road segments differently, because the edit view doesn't show such a very different appearance. That said, these roads have changed from residential to secondary with this modification. The purpose of the Hillsdale Drive connector is to offload traffic from Seminole Trail, so that traffic is routed instead along side roads. The solution, I believe, is to change the intermediary road segments to also be secondary.
