The British Cartographic society has published a short free book about Cartography. It gives and overview of the purpose of cartography and it’s main principles. Quick but very worth read for all mappers.

That’s a pretty weird URL for what you call a “free book”. As it stands, you’re most likely linking to some pirated copy here.

I do agree that the url is… well… strange, but that is a link I got in an official ICA (international cartography association) newsletter. The link does work and it does return pdf without any additional/suspicious activities tho.

Thanks for the update! I have to say it was somewhat unexpected to see this in an official newsletter ;)

You can find the same link on the website of the British Cartographic Society here: https://www.cartography.org.uk/thematic-mapping
It’s apparently the first edition of the book and a new edition is available for sale at their shop.
