I really ought to have checked to make sure all the Tesco Express objects were tagged as shops (etc.) and thrown out any car or bike parks. 2. I do think that it is broadly useful in the case of American Express. Visa and Mastercard are pretty much accepted everywhere, but Amex is taken in some places but not others. I'm in the middle of building an Overpass-driven app that shows you where places are that take Amex, similar to Coinmap. I don't think we need every shop to be tagged payment:visa=yes. payment:bitcoin is useful because most places don't take BitCoin. and payment:american_express is useful because though a lot more places take Amex than take Bitcoin, it's sort of half way between "almost nowhere" (like Bitcoin) and "almost everywhere" (like Visa/MC). That's why I've been collecting the data - a lot of my edits are adding it for small shops and businesses in London as I'm surveying. As for Tesco, it's known that every Tesco and Sainsbury's in the UK take Amex - it's a fact that Amex note on their UK website. 3. The automated edits process is needlessly tiresome and bureaucratic, as with a lot of things on OSM. It basically amounts to a long-winded chinwag which eventually ends with people saying no. That's not fun at all and no way to get anyone to do anything. The very best way to improve the OSM community would be to abolish all mailing lists immediately. But I guess I'll reluctantly do it... |
