House Numbering and Plot Numbering Around Gaborone
Posted by Thato Poloko on 22 October 2015 in English.right now im working on naming as many buildings as i can around Gaborone greater area. After that i want to do some house numbering. I will get Maps from the Department of Surveys and slowly add house numbers for the Block 7 and 8 areas since they have introduced street and house naming there. Then i will add plot numbers for each block overtime, mapping houses and adding plot numbers

Caution.
If you are planing to take the information off these maps into OSM then the maps mast either be copyright free or you have to have permission to use the information.
The alternative is to physically go to the streets/plots and use the information publicly displayed to obtain the information and then transfer that into OSM.

Are the “Maps from the Department of Surveys” in the public domain? If they are how do you know that? Even if there isn’t a copyright notice on the map that doesn’t mean they are in the public domain. You really need proof that you can use the maps otherwise the data might have to be removed later.
