So on the specifics, according to http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=722844462 in changesets osm.org/browse/changeset/76933663 , osm.org/browse/changeset/110392567 and osm.org/browse/changeset/110939910 you did remove access tags.
On its own, a "highway=path" tag does not say anything about who has the legal right to use it or how appropriate it is for that mode of transport. A "foot=designated" tag with "highway=path" means "this path was designed for use for people on foot"; similarly a "bicycle=designated" tag means "this path was designed for use for people on bicycle". Without tags that explain who can use a highway=path , everyone's guessing.

Sorry - should have been clearer. http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=722844462 is OSM way/722844462 , which is way/722844462 . From the "mapki.com" link you can see who changed it and when, and can click through for more details about each changeset. At the top you can see the tags that changed, and further down you can see any nodes in this way that might have changed. There are similar pages for nodes (e.g. http://osm.mapki.com/history/node.php?id=2594590756 ) and relations.

Hello Siiraki and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
You've made a number of edits to Somalia and Somaliland here that will need someone to fix (see https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1bXP for Somalia - the boundary of Somalia isn't a complete line any more).
Rather than making any changes that you plan on your own, I'd suggest talking to the rest of The OpenStreetMap Community in the region and internationally - see https://openstreetmap.community/ and https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk .
Also, please use changeset comments that explain what you are trying to do - "fix" isn't really very helpful.
Best Regards,
Andy

Bugger. Forgot to close changeset. The "other" edit in here is filling in a gap in London_LOOP_11 (relation/3685850). There's nothing in the middle, honest!

@Komoot - Andy from OSM's Data Working Group here. As suggested above, I think it would be of benefit to you if you were to discuss some of the rules around cycle routing in the different parts of the UK. The forum thread at https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2021-September/thread.html#27807 would be an excellent place to start.
More generally, I notice at http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=11348925 that there are quite a lot of unanswered questions. Please do answer these - OpenStreetMap is a community and we have to work together, whatever our different aims might be.
Best Regards,
Andy

I've removed the note here because someone has just written to the DWG suggesting that public access is NOT tolerated.

Hello Dougie and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
While looking at something completely different, I happened to notice this change - and was a bit confused about the comment "#hotosm-project-10694 #uaigeo #youthmappers". I'm guessing that the first hashtag refers to https://tasks.hotosm.org/projects/10694/tasks/ , but that seems to be mostly about buildings in riverside villages?
One thing that would really help other mappers would be if your changeset comment had a bit more information (actual words, not just hashtags). This isn't your fault - that HOT task says "Changeset comment:#hotosm-project-10694 #uaigeo #youthmappers", so I'll ask the person who created that task to change it.
Best Regards,
Andy
PS: Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello madnesstbc, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
In this change you've named way/990937184 "river". It's probably not actually called that (if it is part of a river, choosing "river" in the OSM editor make sure that everyone knows that it really is a river).
If you've got any questions, please ask!

Andy

Hello,
Andy from OSM's Data Working Group here.
There are lots of places around the world that have different names in different official languages, and different ways of dealing with them. Some OSM communities have the "most used name" in the name tag, with others as e.g. alt_name; some have all possible names separated by "/" in the name. Just taking Belgium as an example, the country relation/52411 has 3 names separated with "/", Liege / Luik is done another way relation/1681788 (name:fr is used as name), Leuven / Louvain another node/1448497912 (name:nl is used) and Brussels still another node/1635651356 (both names, with a hyphen).
Generally speaking its up to the local community to decide what's in the "name" tag, and often (as seems to be the case here) translating official guidance into OSM tags isn't straightforward. I'd suggest that a discussion involving the wider OSM NZ community is the way forward. https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-nz doesn't seem hugely busy, but https://openstreetmap.community/ suggests a couple of "Oceania" options too which may be worth looking at.
For completeness, http://osm.mapki.com/history/relation.php?id=6571744 shows the history of the tags on the object.
Best Regards,
Andy

Also filled in a couple of obvious gaps. Some from local knowledge, some just obvious.

Thanks. Looks like they're not spam as such but "names which are clearly not the name"
Incidentally, with regard to "q" as a name, at least one mapper has replied to me in the past because "the editor they were using gave a warning if no name was used". It might help in some of these cases to have a chat with the people who added these names to OSM about osm.wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only (or whatever the link is in their language).
Best Regards,
Andy

Hello,
Just for info - I've split way/40285758 again to remove an extra "spur" that had been added to the Midshires Way there - see https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1bQa (before this changeset), https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1bQb (after this changeset) and https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1bQc (after I split it again).

Andy
