Something went a bit wrong here - node/3715811333/history was created at latitude 0, longitude 0. I deleted it.

When remapping node/656956631/history as way/367583424 it looks like something went a bit wrong - some of the tags got lost. Could you possibly re-add them? It might be worth checking the changeset for any other missing tags, too.

Hi Jerry,
Which router was it that didn't understand bicycle access through the gates here?

Hello, I noticed you've deleted way/366884916/history by a new mapper near Caunton. Did you contact them at all to try and find out what they were trying to do and help them map it?

Hi,
Something went a bit wrong here - you managed to add something at latitude 0, longitude 0. I deleted it: way/367002196/history

33600456 over 10 years ago

Here you've changed way/88691670 to "landuse=residential" but the shortest glance at the underlying imagery will show that it isn't. In order to find out what it is, you should either ask the original mapper (still a regular contributor) or add an OSM note so that local mappers can investigate.

@wambacher you probably need to explain why it's "rubbish" (and have a look at the underlying OSSV data, which it matches)

Please don't use changeset discussion comments for spam - they'll just draw more people's attention to the object in question and make it more likely to be deleted.

Perhaps it would help if you could explain what exactly it is that you are trying to do? I've read @jaimemd/diary/20877 but am now more confused than I was before...

33455142 over 10 years ago

Thanks for that. The bit that was confusing me was the "passenger_lines=4" on one of the 4 parallel tracks here. Given that each line is mapped separately, I don't understand how there can be more than 1. Also, is there anywhere where what these tags mean is written down at all? Railway tagging seems to have reached its own Cambrian Explosion; it's getting difficult to follow what on earth is meant some of the time :)

Here you've changed node/1731752525/history and node/1731752478 from "natural=locality" to "place=locality". Obviously, "natural=locality" makes no sense, but are you really sure that that was what the original mapper was trying to map? If you look at the most recent changeset changeset/14778522 you'll see one item was changed to "natural=fell" and the other two to from "place=locality" to "natural=locality". In a situation such as this, I'd always suggest asking the previous mapper what they actually meant. Here it's likely that they meant to change all three to "natural=fell" but changed only the tag and not the value on two of them. If you can't contact the previous mapper add a note - there will be people who are familiar with the area and can survey stuff, and they will be able to ensure that things are mapped properly, not just assigned to a random key.

You have changed way/322964225 from "natural=bushes" to "natural=scrub". "scrub" is not a synonym for "bushes". The item in question here is a hedge; and a hedge made out of "scrub" makes no sense whatsoever. You appear to be performing a series of mechanical edits without in any way engaging your brain. Please don't do this - it makes the quality of the data collected in OpenStreetMap much poorer. Mechanical edits by people who have never been to a particular location and don't give a thought to the changes that they are making devalue the contributions of people who actually do go out and collect data.

Are you sure that way/241361362#map=18/56.10427/-3.93210 is really "natural=heath"? A small area of heathland next to a housing estate in Stiring seems quite unlikely. A patch of heather, however, seems very possible.

33428452 over 10 years ago

What evidence do you have that the best tagging for way/52881718/history is actually "natural=spring"? It's clearly a pool of water of some sort, but how do you know it is a spring? Did you ask the previous mapper what they meant by the previous tag?

I've reverted this. Here's a Google Image Search if you'd like a clue what a castle kopje is:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=castle+kopje&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAUQ_AVqFQoTCP_ZteWdwscCFbFu2wodpggFOQ

I'm open to suggestions for British English tagging for this (I'm British but only know the Zim/SA word). However, a castle it is not :)

Re way/191923347/history#map=19/54.64111/-2.14026 , when a previous tag "has no meaning" it often helps if you contact the previous mapper to try and understand what they were trying to do. Did you do so in this case? It may be, of course, that you've tried to contact them many times in the past but they haven't replied, but just in case...

Can you explain the change that you made to way/311396423/history#map=17/52.70412/-1.08739 ? It makes no sense to me.

33537943 over 10 years ago

Thanks. Where did you get the "official housenumber data of DC" from?

33537943 over 10 years ago

Hi DangNgu,
What exactly does "vgl. housenumber data" as a source mean here? Does it mean that you went and surveyed them (wrote down the house numbers from the street) or something else?

Best Regards,
Andy Townsend (SomeoneElse) on behalf of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

Rather than just using a changeset comment of "remove self intersections" it would really help if you could explain exactly what problem you fixed, explain why it was a problem, and explain how you fixed it.
Cheers,
Andy
