Changeset When Comment
29592162 almost 11 years ago

No-one's going to complain about changing a typing error such as "mlountain=yes" (and of course a message on the original changeset changeset/25971751 explaining the problem would have been nice too).

It's also entirely possible that UK canal boaters might embrace your "sanitary_dump_station" for their pumpouts, but you don't know because you haven't asked them. Before making mechanical edits such as this please do discuss beforehand in a forum that people actually read (so not just in the echo chamber of the tagging list, or on a wiki page that no-one reads).

I don't make particular use of canal-specific features myself, but I'm sure that there are many people who have either their own map rendering, or a mkgmap-generated Garmin map with a style that enables them to easily see the distance and time to the next pumpout and water point. Changing these features without telling people that you're going to means that they will silently disappear off people's maps, and they won't know why; they'll just think that "OpenStreetMap data isn't as good as it used to be".

There seems to be some duplication here, for example:

node/3399409731
node/3384171074/history

You've removed a "min_hight" tag from way/312900230/history but presumably what they actually meant was "min_height"?

Reverted in changeset/29592162 . Discussion on the tagging list does not provide carte blanche to change tags to your favourite versions. See also "things that you may read in the Wiki are not a carte blanche for you to change everything so that it fits the Wiki "rules" in osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct .

Any reason why you removed the source information on node/364801222 ?

29446859 almost 11 years ago

Ah - OK, thanks.

Thanks for fixing it. If you're wondering why it took a while to render, you've stumbled across a bug in the thing that converts map data into a database before it gets rendered (similar to, but possibly not the same as, https://github.com/openstreetmap/osm2pgsql/issues/304). It should appear shortly.

Something went a bit wrong here - it got created at latitude 0, longitude 0. If you haven't already, you'll need to re-add it at the correct location.

29495755 almost 11 years ago

Because (a) for many years now $mode_of_transport or $animal have been used as access tags and (b) it fits in with all of the other tags on the item.

29495755 almost 11 years ago

I understood perfectly what was meant by the previous tag. Just because you didn't is not a reason why you should remove it.

29495755 almost 11 years ago

Please don't do this - you're removing information from the database. In this case it was previously clear that you are not allowed to bring a bull into the former bullring, but since your edit that is no longer clear - it just says "access=permissive"

And also from way/185882029 and presumably from other objects too.

You've removed some tags from way/84209215/history - was that deliberate?

Hi - you've removed a tag from way/53294167/history - was that deliberate?

Something went a bit wrong here - some of the nodes got added at latitude 0, longitude 0.

Is relation/4651566/history really a university called "cool"? It seems unlikely...

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
I just noticed way/331316420 - it seems not to have a main tag on it. If it's a fence, I'd expect it to be a "barrier=fence" (and not to have a name - fences tend not to have). Or is it the building of a cmpany that makes electric fences?

29485480 almost 11 years ago

If you're fixing typos you might perhaps want to look at the value of the tag on way/286443113/history - it's likely that the "smarsh" here is just a typo for "marsh". The Bing imagery suggests that it's similar to the "wetland=marsh" the other side of the river.

Also, would it be possibly to use geographically smaller changesets? This has only 4 objects in it but is worldwide. It's difficult for a local mapper to tell from the history list whether there are any chnges in their area when a changeset is so big.

Thanks. I think that something similar might have happened to way/321673538/history when it was all merged a couple of months ago. Part of that was a service alley previously.
