My changes were intended to reflect the sections still under construction by tagging them as highway:proposed=secondary to indicate their future classification once the coastal road opens, while retaining their current status as highway=residential.
However, if you know the road will be completed and open soon and would like to retain the highway=secondary classification, would you consider adding access=no tags until it is fully open?

I made the upgrade to primary to agree with the main route of the NIC-62 to the portions of Carretera Litoral del Pacífico that were changed to primary by others. Since only parts of Carretera Litoral del Pacífico are upgraded as multiple lane paved roads, do you think that it’s classification should be down-graded as well to secondary class since the highway policy page (highway=*) indicates that "highway=* distinguishes roads by function and importance rather by their physical characteristic and legal classification”? It is odd to have short sections of primary classed road isolated as it currently is in my opinion. And that secondary classification would seem to match its current use (until the full route’s construction is complete). Please let me know what you think on this subject.

Or to create documented classification guidelines based on that rule? First, the user MarvinMep (@MarvinMep) added this tagging to not only to the road named 'Rua da Frente (NR)’ in version 1 from 9 years ago (way/287418668/history) but many others. It looks like from overpass queries that this user has added 125 individual ways with 104 different names that end in “… (NR)”. Their profile states that they work at Rio de Janeiro’s City Hall. I assume it is a designation of a type of road and that might be better as another tag apart from adding in as the end of a road name. But MarvinMep would probably be able to answer these questions. The ferry route tag - osm.wiki/Tag%3Aroute%3Dferry - "maps a ferry or water bus route on the sea, rivers, or other waterways. Ferries are a form of public transport that operate to connect road networks and to provide passenger service much like bus service”. For river paddle craft, a better tagging scheme would be to assign it the tag route=canoe (osm.wiki/Tag%3Aroute%3Dcanoe) - which is a "route for canoes, kayaks, or other paddle craft”. The additional tag to identify it for rafting would be attraction=river_rafting (attraction=river_rafting). I wanted to see if you agree before I updated this feature however. Thanks for your time. |

If the bridge is mostly closed but does allow some access at night, do you think that instead of access=no tags there instead could be some access:conditional or restriction:conditional tags (osm.wiki/Conditional_restrictions) to restrict traffic during those hours? Also, the article mentions that construction will finish in March of 2024. Do you know if this will be in stages or the restrictions along the bridge will span that length of time? Thank you for addressing these with your reversions, however some errors occurred in an earlier changeset such as changeset/59317166. In that changeset, joserrg12 included some incorrect trunk upgrades from residential as well as some name changes. By reverting in changeset/131830148, this left isolated trunk segments like way/158614715 in the data. In addition to the poor classifications, also gaps in the road network that used to exist such as the missing residential road from node/1707778128 to node/1707778096, which subsequently leaves isolated disconnected roads like way/591389110. Reverting the first changeset of this user in changeset/59317166 would solve some of these data issues and the others could be fixed with a JOSM validation.
