Somersham again - still bigger than I expected

Theoretically all you need to do is find the map you want, click "Export" and select "Embeddable HTML", then copy and paste it from there. No OpenLayers knowledge required!

Relations going away ?

Memo to self: close the italics tag. :) Anyway, thinking about it, there was a bug for a few hours in adding relations. Maybe this is what swiped it. Apologies if so.

Relations going away ?

Well, my best guess is that it's versions executing out of sequence. If you add a way to a relation, then do that (say) 10 times, that's fine if the server executes the first write (relation contains way A), then the second (contains A, B), then the third (contains A, B, C) and so on.

But if the first write takes a very long time getting through, which can happen, then it's possible the server will execute the tenth write (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J), then the first (A). And if you leave Potlatch at that point then the first will be the live version.

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot that can be done about this until API 0.6. 0.6 will return version numbers with every read, and require them to be sent with every write, so it will be able to reject a write of version 1 after version 10. But right now Potlatch doesn't actually know the version of any object so there's no sensible way to add this check.

Potlatch splitting

Works for me. If you're finding a consistent problem then please, please, please provide steps to reproduce.

Potlatch splitting

You can't currently add relations to other relations in Potlatch.

Potlatch doesn't have a "habit of deleting ways". When you split a way, it (obviously) writes two new ways, one with half the nodes and the second with the other half. Now maybe the server might be being dumb and slow about making the change, but that ain't Potlatch's fault.

Relations going away ?

Are you sure it's missing? I can see it here: osm.org/edit?lat=50.59196&lon=4.61728&zoom=15&way=27695325

Hi brothers

10/10 marks for imagination, 0/10 for execution.

Actually, execution would be a good idea.

Aslockton and Whatton - mostly done

Have you got the projection set to something weird in JOSM?

Small additions

I've never (even when living in Cambridge) been able to disassociate the village from the Wayne's World quote: "She's such a babe, if she was president she'd be Babraham Lincoln..."

So langsam war WP im Jahr 2003 auch

Angie - unfortunately the Potlatch developer (me) does not speak German, so if you would like your comments to be "constructive criticism" or if they need an answer, it would be best to post in English. :)

Need some help with Circular Roads

Or for a rather more verbose explanation - if someone who's better at geometry than me could tell me what's wrong with the clockwise detection code, that'd be really helpful.

More mapping of Marlborough

Sorry, when I say "added relations" I should really say added some more ways to relations - you'd already done a few!

More mapping of Marlborough

Looks good!

The best way to tag NCN routes is using relations - there's lots about it on the wiki. I've added relations for your Marlborough routes - have a look and see if it makes sense.

Follow-up thought: can you search a node by its characteristics?

Second post - undergraduate geography dissertation

1. I tend to be fairly 'full on' about hobbies and this is another example of that, in a way. It's also something I take part in as a (semi-pro) cartographer, but unfortunately the amount of use I, or anyone else, can make of OSM in this way is limited until we get the licence sorted out.

2. For me, it's mostly for the social side. Mapping parties are generally about housing estates, and sometimes I'll take part/organise one because I'd like to see the place in question mapped - but by and large, if I'm going to spend a day mapping, I'd rather go out on a rural cycle ride on an uncharted bit of the National Cycle Network than go up and down countless residential cul-de-sacs.

turning Nation Cycle Network route 2 int a relation

Yeah, I find that (users accidentally obliterating the ncn_ref tag) a fair amount - had to repair NCN 8 through South Wales recently for exactly that reason. Turning it into a relation helps: in Potlatch, at least, it's rendered differently, so people can see if they've changed something wrongly.

How to close an accout ?

osm.wiki/index.php/FAQ#How_can_I_close_my_account.3F

Beginner

Press '-' on a node to remove it from the currently selected way only. Potlatch has actually been able to do this for a lot longer than JOSM has ;)
