talk-gb is a (usually!) friendly list and worth subscribing to. And a bunch of us hang out at #osm-gb on IRC (the oftc network).

FWIW Potlatch can’t really be any clearer about closing the changeset - if you choose to close the editing window, Potlatch has no way of knowing about it.

Writing messages accusing others of “epic fail” and “fiasco” is absolutely the wrong way to get something fixed. If you want it to be fixed, offer to help; don’t begin by publically calling people out. I’m sure your assistance would be very warmly welcomed.

Incidentally, there’s no “I only contribute via potlatch and can’t do this” about this. All OSM data can be edited via Potlatch.

@OliverG: see osm.wiki/Servers/Tile_CDN (for the main Mapnik style; the cycle map and transport map do not have publicly available stylesheets). It requires a little more than “donating some CPU time”, though.

Yep - please, please save frequently. That’s why there’s a reminder and a time count on the save button.

Once you’ve saved the first time (and entered the comment), saving is just a matter of pressing ‘S’ each time. Please don’t leave it 70 minutes before saving!

Have now started on Hereford (or “Herryfud” as the conductors on the Cotswold Line say it).

I know Hereford reasonably well but may not have time before the switchover. I’ll do some work there if I get chance. Full marks for fixing Malvern!

Potlatch just provides the zoom levels that Bing offers - up to z23 if available! But we can't invent detail where there isn't any. :)

Well, the most important thing is that you're contributing to a project that you're happy with! It's not necessary that OSM fails for the success of FOSM, and vice versa. Personally I hope both do well. But hopefully we can get past the stage of (on both sides) leaving snarky messages on each others' communication channels.

This is the third time you've written a diary entry threatening to leave. It's less and less convincing every time you say it.

If you feel that strongly, then you are better off without OSM, and OSM is better off without you. You may find a fork like FOSM more suited to your view. Enjoy whatever you do next, and bye.

@Chaso99: I have declared that, by placing the PD userbox on osm.wiki/User:Richard . That's the entire point of that box. I don't go round tagging every single object I upload to OSM with "licence: PD" or commenting every single line of code in P2 with "// this line is licensed public domain", either!

Ko1umbus: the biggest issue is lack of volunteers to do anything other than mapping. If we had more people working on development, the site would get easier to use. If we had more people working on publicity... we'd have more publicity. Do join in. :)

Don't forget that plenty of people declare all their contributions, to the wiki and elsewhere, to be public domain.
