The Three Stigmata of Potlatch Edits

@Pieren: did you not read my reply to you at http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2012-August/011226.html ? In that when you say “nothing has been done to fix this”… I actually fixed it?

Still waiting for you to forward the Cadastre details. Which is closer to 6 years than 6 months. No hurry, mind.

Is this a redaction bug?

No, it certainly doesn’t do that. You can read the source if you want to check.

Redaction repair

@John Dalton: my reading of ACL of 2010 is that there is no effect on the contractual part of the ODbL. For example, it is hard to disagree that the contract is “reasonably necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the party who would be advantaged by the term”.

The IceTV case absolutely strengthens the case for ODbL’s contractual pillar as it provides further evidence that copyright alone is unlikely to provide protection for collections of factual geodata in Australia.

Der OSMF Redaction Account-Bot dreht gerade durch und löscht massenweise Straßen

“remove only the attributes from the non-agreer and leave the rest intact”

That’s exactly what the bot does.

A46 Farndon to Widmerpool dualling.

Interesting report - thanks! Bit of a stretch before Fosse2 gets to Exeter but this should at least connect Newark and Leicester.

topographis problem

@Sanderd17 (sorry, only just spotted this): You can indeed edit relations of relations with Potlatch 2. You might be thinking of Potlatch 1, but that was a long long time ago. :) You can also delete long ways - any failure in doing so will be an API problem, not a P2 problem.

Potlatch

Great to see some mapping underway in Monmouth - it’s a lovely place.

talk-gb is a (usually!) friendly list and worth subscribing to. And a bunch of us hang out at #osm-gb on IRC (the oftc network).

First test

FWIW Potlatch can’t really be any clearer about closing the changeset - if you choose to close the editing window, Potlatch has no way of knowing about it.

What is going on with relicensing?

_sev: You’re subscribed to the rebuild@ list, I believe. How about offering your help there?

Writing messages accusing others of “epic fail” and “fiasco” is absolutely the wrong way to get something fixed. If you want it to be fixed, offer to help; don’t begin by publically calling people out. I’m sure your assistance would be very warmly welcomed.

topographis problem

Incidentally, there’s no “I only contribute via potlatch and can’t do this” about this. All OSM data can be edited via Potlatch.

Openstreetmap.org on steroids

@OliverG: see osm.wiki/Servers/Tile_CDN (for the main Mapnik style; the cycle map and transport map do not have publicly available stylesheets). It requires a little more than “donating some CPU time”, though.

Many more changes...

Yep - please, please save frequently. That’s why there’s a reminder and a time count on the save button.

Once you’ve saved the first time (and entered the comment), saving is just a matter of pressing ‘S’ each time. Please don’t leave it 70 minutes before saving!

Malvern area down to a few yellow dots ...

Have now started on Hereford (or “Herryfud” as the conductors on the Cotswold Line say it).

Malvern area down to a few yellow dots ...

I know Hereford reasonably well but may not have time before the switchover. I’ll do some work there if I get chance. Full marks for fixing Malvern!

Potlatch2

What version of Flash Player are you using? You can find out by going to this link.

Cheltenham area ...

Brilliant! I’d started on kesfan’s stuff (completely unreachable, sadly) but had only got so far. That’s a great improvement.

Edit war looming

Potlatch just provides the zoom levels that Bing offers - up to z23 if available! But we can't invent detail where there isn't any. :)

Licence change checkup

Excellent - well done for fixing Evesham. Just cycled through there today, came back to look at OSMI and noticed you'd fixed it all. :)

Getting ready to pack my bags and leave OSM

Well, the most important thing is that you're contributing to a project that you're happy with! It's not necessary that OSM fails for the success of FOSM, and vice versa. Personally I hope both do well. But hopefully we can get past the stage of (on both sides) leaving snarky messages on each others' communication channels.
