"sensible" non. Mais je n'ai pas fait de suivi précis sur ce point. J'ai juste le sentiment que cela a freiner l'augmentation continu de la base. J'ai surtout fait cela pour mettre un coup d'arrêt à la progression de ces tags dans la base puisque l'import du bâti ne s'arrête pas et les auteurs du script qadastre ne semblaient pas vouloir renoncer à ce tag dans leurs fichiers mis à disposition sur leur site (ce qu'ils semblent avoir fait maintenant).
Résoudre le problème du tag "source=cadastre" aurait sans doute un impact beaucoup plus grand mais nous n'avons pas encore de solution satisfaisante pour l'instant.

Agree, Bing imagery is offset by few meters almost everywhere. GPS tracks can be offset as well. But hey, Bing can be used for free in OSM ! This is something that was unbelievable when OSM started 7 years ago !
Ideally, you need a reference point somewhere on your map. By luck, in France, we have such survey points in many places and we can realign Bing by these few meters (but usually less than 2 meters). Elsewhere, you can do it yourself with special GPS stations or with multiple measurements made at different periods (using different satelites).
Bing positionning accuracy is very floating from one place to another.

About Google, Ed Parsons replied to our questions about such use (StreetView in that case) and he said : "checking the odd street names is OK.. but every street name I would suggest would represent a bulk feed."
So verifying some facts also displayed in Google picture is ok but doing this repeatedly would be a copyright infringement. (and this is only to check facts, not tracing over aerial imagery which is reusing alignment and georeferencing and that's not allowed). Je pense qu'en France, on n'a plus besoin de traces GPX pour tracer des routes. Le cadastre et Bing sont des sources de bien meilleure qualité en général, et en ville en particulier (à cause des problèmes de réverbération des signaux GPS). Surtout si on utilise un smartphone qui offre généralement de bien piteuses performances à ce niveau-là. Maintenant, ta trace peut servir à localiser des notes ou des photos que tu prends au passage. Mais attention de garder les deux mains sur le volant si tu conduits ;-)

This is more a question about the granularity of OSM data. We always have in OSM highly detailed map details coexisting with less accurate data. The "edits" should go in one way only, the way of 'improvements' : contributors are allowed to replace existing data if their contribution is more detailed, not in the other way.

No, the help tool is not really appropriate here because the wiki documentation is translating species and genus tags for a while now. If we have to modify the wiki, we will need to discuss and look for a consensus. The mailing list is better for that.

Hmmm. Normally, we don't translate tags into the database itself. For instance, we tag a school as "amenity=school" and if some application want to translate itm it translates and displays "Schule" or "École" automaticaly. But we don't put a tag "amenity:de=Schule" into OSM database. I would expect the same for trees but I discover now that the wiki documentation about "trees" is not following the standard for species and genus. I see that the tagging schema is leisure=pitch + sport=tennis. But how can we distinguish grass courts and clay courts like in Roland-Garros, Paris ? Is leisure=patich still appropriate ?

Wow, j'avais raté ce post. Bravo pour l'effort. Ayant fait une bonne partie des limites en Alsace mais avec très souvent des planches raster déjà géoréférencées, je comprends très bien quel a dû être l'ampleur de cette tâche.

Non, c'est pas tes yeux ;-) Les tuiles viennent même du rendu mapnik du site principal.

100% complet, c'est impossible ;-) Mais sur ces 11 arrondissements, il y a en principe toutes les rues, places, parcs, tous les bâtiments et toutes les adresses. Mais il est possible que j'en ai oublié quelques unes. De plus, la mairie modifie, ajoute ou supprime des toponymes (morceaux de rues renommés, sens de circulation ou accès modifiés, nouveaux noms de places pour rendre hommage à untel, etc). Pour bien faire, il faudrait suivre et appliquer les modifications publiées sur les comptes-rendus des délibérations municipales concernant ces points de manière continue mais nous n'en sommes pas encore là.

Be careful, your first question is about "access restriction" and the second about "turn restriction". Use the last (with a relation) only when you don't have "access restriction".
