You are correct. My apologies here. I saw your 2 similar edits and didn't examine this one as closely as the first one.

You can simply merge them. Select both, that small segment and the rest of its sidewalk and either right-click to select "Merge" or press "C" shortcut(for Combine).
If there are any conflicting tag values iD/Rapid won't let you do that and throw a message at the bottom of the screen. If that happens simply make sure conflicting tags are matching and the rest should just work.

Is the description of this feature still accurate and relevant or should it be cleaned up?

Hello.
When mapping sidewalks, generally it's best to map them as a single way from curb to curb, without those tiny "antennas" on the intersection of 2 sidewalks.

Hello.
This changeset should be fully reverted because these bike lanes are already mapped as tags of the relevant roads.

Shouldn't most of them be "dismount" rather than "no"?

Hello.
Instead of outright deleting a closed biz node, it's much better to use lifecycle prefix tags as documented on osm.wiki/Lifecycle_prefix
Doing that not only preserves history of this object, if there's ever a need to refer to it later, but it still allows this address to be searchable and routable. Just because a biz closed doesn't mean that address is gone too.

Hello.
Please note that "hard" is not one of the valid values for the surface= tag.

You could do loc_name here.

151732480 over 1 year ago

Hello.
Why did you change the name tag to alt_name?
A feature can't have alt_name without the primary name tag.

Ira, the issue with that edit was that name:<lang>= is supposed to be a translation of name= tag into that language.
What you had was "name=West 103rd Street" and "name:en=Norman Rockwell Place", which is most definitely not a translation.

Since in NYC sometimes we have multiple names for the same street, for example 6th Ave can referred to Ave of Americas and other similar situations, and sometimes the city assigns these dedication names, such as "Odessa Steward Street", we needed more tags to distinguish them. Hence the honorary_name=* tag.
Keep in mind that not all dedication names are for dead people, so memorial_name=* is might not be applicable in all situations.
