After examining some of the trails in Germany found via Lonvia's map (thanks FK270673 and SK53). If this seems to have gone correctly, I hope to get to placing the Bay Area Ridge trail.

Hmm, that's only 6.6 miles, but the race website claims 7.4 miles. That loss of 0.8 miles is very disconcerting.

The length of this relation would be 10.6 km only _if_ it was on sea level. However, you have to add about 2400 feet or 800 m for climbing up and down.

Ah, very clever. Of course, that's assuming the original is also a three-dimensional measurement. I'm just going to assume exactly that... :-)
