After 3 days of mapping and working in JOSM I've finally finished my first shopping area.

The main area of Stewarton, East Ayrshire (not Renfrewshire as Nominatim has it recorded) was almost empty, despite there being a registered mapper there.

I've added in every shop, with the use of many unofficial tags from the proposed section. It's amazing how few actually render.

It took a lot of work in JOSM to place the nodes. The error from a few feet of accuracy in the GPS signal was giving units on the wrong side of roads.

Now if I can just get used to the distance I need to place nodes form the route lines in JOSM I could get a decent looking street.

By the way Greengrocer butcher didnt get rendered in your map so on mine . If you are interested we could kind of create a big list of shops to be rendered on mapnik :)
