| Early feedback welcomed: open source tool for Spatial Data Matching with OpenStreetMap Schema | Hello! I got linked here as I started to build a sort-of similar tool (link in https://codeberg.org/matkoniecz/improving_openstreetmap_using_alltheplaces_dataset/issues/8 ). I definitely prefer to not invent the wheel so I went here to review what exists already and hopefully use this tool or contribute to it. Quick feedback, from opening website:

| Possible Return | Good luck with your project :) Or rather, projects, including non-osm ones. And yes, it is likely better to ditch OSM and focus on school than opposite. |
|
| Thoughts on Classification and Tagging | Maybe you got answers already but in case…
Are these high enough to fit a truck below it? Often there is max size for regular vehicle and if such vehicle would fit then height limit is unsigned…
no, but it may serve similar purpose and help nearly-blind people |

| DWG member fizzie has deleted a massive amount of legal and public data from the map | Also, I want to express appreciating to DWG for cleaning up this undiscussed import, apparently imported from data source on incompatible license. |

which one? |
|
| DWG member fizzie has deleted a massive amount of legal and public data from the map | note that not all legal and public data should be uploaded into OSM also, as explained at https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/apparent-use-of-unauthorised-source-for-beach-names-in-australia/108721 it was NOT legal to mass-upload this data to OSM, at least we have no indicator that it was legal
See osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines It is inverse, you need a clear proposal to import data |

| Cygnus Field Report | Is Cygnus dead nowadays? I am asking as it was featured at osm.wiki/Conflation and I just removed it in osm.wiki/w/index.php?title=Conflation&diff=2717366&oldid=2597408 In case that it is available somewhere, please let me know so I can repair link rather than removing link to auctioned domain |

| Improving landuse=residential in and around Kumasi #0001 | Thanks for cleanup! landuse glued to roads is quite annoying. In such case I would also consider mass deleting such dubious data - “Replace Geometry” is nice, but spending extra hours to fix low quality data may be not worth it. Especially when cleaning up after paid mappers who made low quality edits. |

| Working with the class:bicycle tag |
Congrats, it worked well! |

| Working with the class:bicycle tag |
It is actually worse. People will disagree heavily in many cases and different cyclists have a better criteria. It is far better to tag objective info rather than trying to cram all criteria into single poorly defined tag. Any use of class:bicycle tag should think hard “is it possible to express it properly”. |

| I'm in the top 150! | And note/4198859 is just a pointless spam. Please stop. |

| Restructure wiki page key:name? |
Do you have somewhere list of them? Or able at least to share general location where you checked? (I am pretty sure that in my area situation is much better) |

| StreetComplete for iOS | Great! |

|
| the DWG rules placed on my edits have already ruined the map | @slice0 - if you care about some special aspect of road such as its official classification or quality class that does not match its importance/role in highway=* - then dedicated tag for that value is an option See for example highway:class:pl=* But that would require discussing it with others and ceasing insults and attempts to redefine tags. |

| This is why Google/Apple maps will always be ahead; any company that relies on OSM for navigation will never catch up | (example above is from Poland - but I expect that Australia also has cases where official road classification is not matching osm tags 1:1) |

This does not mean we are obligated to follow official classification. Especially where official classification is clearly not matching current road importance or its role. And for your information: Google does the same. https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droga_wojew%C3%B3dzka_nr_219 way/264203873 and way/1199402239#map=17/53.83911/18.79006 have the same official classification (Droga Wojewódzka). |

no, we are mapping reality if reality and official map diverges, then we should ignore official map if they match then we can just follow reality |
