Hello! I got linked here as I started to build a sort-of similar tool (link in https://codeberg.org/matkoniecz/improving_openstreetmap_using_alltheplaces_dataset/issues/8 ).

I definitely prefer to not invent the wheel so I went here to review what exists already and hopefully use this tool or contribute to it.

Quick feedback, from opening website:

• I failed link to source code or project website at https://sdm.etica.ai/v/0.5/ and given AGPL license I expected it next to mention of AGPL
• Help text on pressing “help” is not in English while other page elements are in English
• “itens” should be “items” right? Unless it is some specialized term?
• I see some other typos/nonenglish - is it useful to report them? Where I can just submit patch to fix this?

Are these high enough to fit a truck below it? Often there is max size for regular vehicle and if such vehicle would fit then height limit is unsigned…

note that not all legal and public data should be uploaded into OSM

also, as explained at https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/apparent-use-of-unauthorised-source-for-beach-names-in-australia/108721 it was NOT legal to mass-upload this data to OSM, at least we have no indicator that it was legal

there was never a formal proposal about the removal of this information

It is inverse, you need a clear proposal to import data

Thanks for cleanup! landuse glued to roads is quite annoying.

In such case I would also consider mass deleting such dubious data - “Replace Geometry” is nice, but spending extra hours to fix low quality data may be not worth it. Especially when cleaning up after paid mappers who made low quality edits.

The tag is mostly subjective

It is actually worse. People will disagree heavily in many cases and different cyclists have a better criteria. It is far better to tag objective info rather than trying to cram all criteria into single poorly defined tag.

Any use of class:bicycle tag should think hard “is it possible to express it properly”.

And note/4198859 is just a pointless spam. Please stop.

A random sample in my neighbourhood showed an error rate of 8.4% (N=1092).

Do you have somewhere list of them? Or able at least to share general location where you checked?

@slice0 - if you care about some special aspect of road such as its official classification or quality class that does not match its importance/role in highway=* - then dedicated tag for that value is an option

See for example highway:class:pl=*

But that would require discussing it with others and ceasing insults and attempts to redefine tags.

(example above is from Poland - but I expect that Australia also has cases where official road classification is not matching osm tags 1:1)

This does not mean we are obligated to follow official classification.

Especially where official classification is clearly not matching current road importance or its role.

If you have an official map, maybe the official centerline is the best.

if they match then we can just follow reality
