Yesterday I added the footpaths I know of to the wooded areas on the “west island” of Montreal. The lines are not professional, but it gives information. I am in internal conflict about disclosing the “foot paths”- trails I know of as this will probably increase the number of people using the trail, where it is in my interests to keep the paths a secret to keep its solitude. Overall , I think many people of Montreal need to know of the trails because only the public might put political pressure on city/government officials who constantly cut off “small” sections of green-spaces for development. So many Condos on the Island now.

People see a wooded area and think “It would be nice to live here!” and they build a home or Condo. Then all the trees are gone, cut down to build on the area of the land/ the plots of land. Then it is a concrete wasteland where no one would want to live.

It will be discovered, but will not be really busy.

And indeed, usage can be key to preservation.
