I don't recall any tunnel on this section of levada when we walked it a few days ago. Can anyone provide any information please?

NB the signs are at the south end of the levada where the steps go down to the main road, not at the end of the section I tagged, because as far as I could make out the southernmost bit is actually access to houses.

OK. It would be good if it were usable. It is much the nicest way into Funchal from Monte. Internet very poor here and josm could not download the data layer. I will try again tomorrow.

Let me repeat for a third time. There is a pedestrians prohibited sign at the south end.

I was at the south end earlier today. As the commit says there is a pedestrian prohibited road sign at the south end and also a falling rocks road sign. Google Search found several reports of closure including reports of emergency services having to rescue people.

There is also a pre-existing openstreetmap note of some sort near the junction of paths below Monte saying path closed although it is ambiguous because it doesn't indicate which one.
