Hi Joe E, regarding your connecting up of the footways at the north-west corner of the bowling green in Locke Park: there used to be a fence preventing the public from walking around the green - has this been removed?

Is the highway behind Meryl Gardens really named "Meryl Gardens Backstreet"? It sounds more like a description than a name to me. I haven't done much mapping in Hartlepool, so don't know what are the council's conventions for naming streets.

I don't know and unfortunately I can't survey it from the road myself because access to the whole port area is restricted. I'll see if I can see a sign from the train the next time I'm going past!

Besides, that one is known locally as 'Bran Sands STW' - you'll find many more results under that name from your favourite search engine than either 'Middlesbrough STW' or 'Middlesborough STW'

I see the EU don't know how to spell 'Middlesbrough' correctly

I noticed you've removed the construction tags from the Teesport Renewable Energy Plant. Is it actually operational yet? I know it was supposed to open in 2020, but you'll probably be aware there was a fire in one of the silos last month which lasted for days and the local news indicated it was still in the commissioning phase.

@SomeoneElse Across the A66 - if you look on the latest (Maxar) imagery, you'll see the footpath now crosses both directions of the A66 to the west of the throughabout (see the red tactile paving - still four crossings, but all together now). The footpath continues southwards on the west side of the A171 until the traffic lights at South Bank Road junction. Note: the footpath on the east side of the A171 has been removed.

Towards the end of the video, you can also the temporary mast currently under construction, south-west of the existing site.

Following that logic, how would you know from surveying which A-roads are part of the strategic route network (trunk) and which are primary route network? As I understand it they are both signed yellow on green. If "there is at least one B road that is a primary route" as you say, is it signed differently to other B roads?

I see you've changed the A178 and A1046 to highway=secondary but this tag should be for B-roads only.

I notice you've made several changesets, downgrading highways across the north of England so I'd really like to know the reasons behind your large-scale changes.

In this changeset, you've downgraded a lot of highways - including changing A-roads to highway=secondary and B-roads to highway=tertiary. What is the source for your edits?

In the UK, A-roads are either tagged highway=trunk or highway=primary (according to the colour of the road signs), never highway=secondary. Likewise, B-roads are always highway=secondary. See osm.wiki/Roads_in_the_United_Kingdom

I just noticed you deleted the access=no tag on the Transporter Bridge and changed other access tags from bicycle/foot/horse/motor_vehicle=no to =yes but added opening_hours:covid19=off

The bridge actually closed in July 2019 - well before COVID - due to structural issues. The council have said very little and been extremely vague about when it might re-open - "a number of weeks" - but I'd be very surprised if it re-opened this year.

Therefore, I think the previous access tagging is more appropriate in this case.

Amazing work adding all those highways given how little of it is on aerial imagery! I hadn't realised how quickly the developers had built everything here as they only started just before the first lockdown, even completing the grassland - often the last thing developers bother with.
I'm not convinced the "Kirkleatham Green" name will stick though - I guess time will tell.

Ah, in that case it was just the incorrect name that needed to be removed. I don't think it's possible to bring back the building quickly using the iD editor - hopefully someone else reading this comment can advise.

Yes I'm local, but I don't have much time to update the map at the moment - happy to help where I can!

Usually updates are visible within minutes, but sometimes it can take a little longer for some tiles to refresh.

Hi marskemapper and welcome back!
A little tip: the iD editor has a 'Square' function (shortcut 'Q') which will make corners into right-angles. You can apply this to a whole building in one go if it's a simple building, or to individual corner nodes for more complicated buildings like Marske Hall.

Are pedestrians really banned on only this short section of the A66? Your comment suggests to me that multiple apps say it's OK to run on a 70mph dual-carriageway with no footpath beside!!! Whilst it may be inadvisable to walk/run here, that doesn't mean it's illegal... the apps could do with tweaking methinks!

In respect of your edits to Iron Works Moto Park, it looks like you've re-aligned the raceway to Bing aerial imagery, but Esri World is newer here so the previous (version #3) layout is more up-to-date.

Also, I'd be grateful if you could make edits in smaller areas before saving a changeset, as it makes it much harder to check changes when done over several countries at a time.

You've been making some very useful edits around Yarm. I have one query though.

Here you have changed the name of way/54672860/history from Clockwood Gardens to Mount Leven Road. OS OpenMap Local shows the former name but I know that's not always accurate so I just wanted to double-check with you first.

Good work on separating out residential areas from the railway. However you've deleted the names on the residential areas too.
All over Teesside, most suburbs are tagged only on landuse=residential areas but looking at other places in England, I'm wondering if I should transfer these all to separate nodes?
