The area of the the border between Kurdistan (Kurdish Iraq) and Iran has been heavily mined since the Iran/Iraq war. It's highly advised that you take a knowledgeable guide with you if you intend to hike or climb in Kurdistan.

In this area a map of minefields can be found at the Visitor Centre of the Halgurd & Sakran National Park in Choman.

The contributor has made some effort to add some points on the map to illustrate that care should be taken, but this is not an exhaustive list.

If anyone knows of a better way to add minefields as an areal extent in OSM please let the contributor know.
