What was your source for these maxspeed tags? I am trying to complete maxspeed tags around your changeset, but can't find good information

This German definition differs from the international definition. usage=* When looking on OpenRailwayMap, Germany is clearly deviating. Wouldn't you agree it would make more sense OSM used the international definition, rather than a different definition in each country?

Why would the railways to Sassnitz and Sassnitz Fährhaven be main lines? They're single track lines with a speed limit lower than 100 km/h. What is your source?

Why would Werbig-Eberswalde be a branch line while Werbig-Frankfurt and Werbig-KüstrinKietz are main lines? Judging on the local character of the lines, I would think they're all branch lines.

Deze ways geven aan of een wissel een half-Engels wissel of Engels wissel is. Het is een overblijfsel van de ProRail import dat nog een keer opgepakt moet worden. De goede manier om dit soort gevallen op te lossen is door de way(s) te verwijderen en de centrale node (met railway=switch) te updaten met railway:switch=single_slip of railway:switch=double_slip. Als er één zo’n way langs het wissel loopt is het een half-Engels wissel (single slip) en als er twee langs lopen is het een Engels wissel (double slip).

Als mensen zich er echt heeel erg aan storen kunnen we er voor kiezen om ze gwn allemaal weg te halen. Met een filtertje op JOSM is dat zo gebeurd. Zou een beetje jammer zijn van de data, maar aan de andere kant: ik heb het ook al vier jaar niet opgepakt zie ik nu. Dus fair als het afgekapt wordt

The map on that page was only used to link railway line numbers to their respective railways. Please have a look at the various linked documents which provide the detailed information about the railway lines, further on the page. The information in these tables was used to add tags in OSM. Looking at public factual information and using this information to enhance a project like OSM is very far away from copyright infringement, afaik.

Another example is looking at so called cab ride videos (videos that are shot from the perspective of the train driver). While these videos might be copyrighted, deriving factual information like wayside signs from these videos is no copyright infringement.

To provide a counter example: importing GIS information from a track operator’s databases in to OSM, without asking them, would be copyright infringement

Hello Joost,
The big circles are circles with a known radius, that I import during edits. I use them to determine the curve radius of railway tracks, and delete them before I commit the changeset. It seems I forgot deleting them here. Do you need any help with removing them?

Hi!
From my own experience of working in the railway sector, I recognized a maintenance vehicle access point here. These locations are used to drive to with a road-rail vehicle, manoeuvre the vehicle above the track, change to train wheels, and drive on on the train wheels. This feature is something which has no specific tagging in OSM yet, so I tagged it as the next closest thing. All vehicles that reach this node use it as a turning circle, so there you have it: I think it makes sense.

Iets verderop weet ik vrij zeker dat het wél ontspoorinrichtingen waren. Dat waren namelijk geen ontspoorblokken, maar ontspoortongen. Voorbeeldje op http://www.railgoed.nl/mediapool/75/756988/resources/big_17164983_0_700-464.jpg

Ah, dan zal het de assenteller geweest zijn. Mij bad. Ik dacht dat het een apparaat was zoals op https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontspoorinrichting#/media/Bestand%3AGleissperre_IMGP8216.jpg
Daar leek het ook een logische locatie voor, maar dat is natuurlijk tegelijk een logische locatie voor een assenteller.

Because that community came up with this tagging convention. Why blame me personally for that? Why not solve the concern you have at its root?
