The botanic gardens map appears to include government house. All except 1 way around the government house had bicycle=no. I just updated to align with the rest of the ways.

I havent found any information regards Kings Domain. Will need to ride the area to confirm.

There is very little use of no bicycle signage in the state due to our road laws.
They are typically shown where a shared way joins another way that could be construed as shared bike way and typically signed or painted where they intersect.
An example of this is the path that runs parallel to the main Yarra trail and Alexander avenue.

Hi @ ChonkerStonker, just curious into the mapping of way/208505379 (Swanaton St)
Rode here yesterday and there is no actual separate road way between the tram tracks as indicated on OSM.
On the north and south bound directions there is only a dedicated bike lane and and tram tracks.
Given the presence of a dedicated bike lane, should permissions be set to bicycle=no?

Way is not accessible to the public along with way/60724589.
There is a gate with padlock where way/60724589 joins Rossiter Rd

Changeset was reverted to address moving go power pole node.

118627943 almost 4 years ago

I double checked the note in the previous version of the way.
From what I recall there was a sign on a power pole directing to a bike route in a given direction. However there is no bike path that is marked on the ground or via a shared path/permitted bike path.
From my ride it was evident that way/671174716 was only a footpath unless I missed something

Yes a gated community is by definition has access for local traffic only as per the OSM wiki. Do you see there may be a better tag that can be used in this instance ?

Rode along Cheltenham Rd west bound during the week. No sign was present at the junction with Reserve Rd where path starts.
If bike we’re permitted a sign will be present at the start and end of the path.

No wasn’t my intention. I was trying to fix the alignment of the shared way as it was sitting out on the roadway.
I had some issues with the shared way which was attached to the powerlines and I couldn’t disconnect it. I had to delete part of the shared way and redraw it. I tried to put the power line back to its original alignment.

I see where you are coming from. I have reverted the change.

Thanks Diacritic.
It looked to me like someone had accidentally dragged a node and joined it to another way.
I rode all the roads in Moorabbin during the last lockdown and the roads appeared to match the aerial geometry.

Thanks Dian. Good to get some confirmation on the ground.
I tend to err on the side of caution whilst out riding and don’t ride on the paths unless I see a sign that indicates that bikes a permitted.

Hi Tony, thanks for the follow up.
If mappers are verifying on the ground then there should be evidence of a sign that bicycles are explicitly permitted, rather than associate and tag the way based on the types of people that use it.

116207837 almost 4 years ago

The names does suggest it’s for walking only.
I did not see any signage that indicated that bikes were permitted.

Yes that is correct
