We haven’t had a London pub meet-up in a while. I probably could’ve organised something, but got waylaid by Dundee, and preparing a talk for Dundee, and recovering from all the excitement of Dundee. But of course we need to squeeze a pub meet-up before Christmas…

The Xmas OSMLondon pub meet-up is TONIGHT!

Dundee? I mean State Of The Map EU in Dundee of course. Great fun was had by me.

Here’s me at the kick off session, not quite managing to do my usual mega-cheerful grin, because I had to get up a bit too early off the sleeper train. More of a normal smile. And I’ve slapped some photos on instagram.

I enjoyed a lot of talks. I’m slow at typing on my phone, but on my mastodon I managed to realtime toot some highlights:

• Sarah Hoffmann on the UK’s boundaries data not making her life easy
• Robert Whittaker and his “Survey Me!” tool.
• Jochen Topf and his OSM Spyglass tool

…but there were many more. I should do some more after-the-event tooting about some other hightlights.

I’ve already blogged with slides and transcript of my own talk about OSM Notes which came right at the end of the conference. Before that, I was also was invited to lead a Missing Maps Project panel discussion. Hopefully videos of all these sessions appearing soon.

What a blast it was! Big shout out to Gregory, who managed to do most of the conference organising while also becoming a father!

So tonight’s pub meet-up will be a smaller event. But some of the same people there. On that page you can see I found a nice photo of cosy xmas shenanigans from the Monkey Puzzle pub in xmas 2023, so something like that is what to expect. Maybe we’ll have more people attending. So far 8 people signed up here, so I would expect at least 10 people coming. No need to sign up, just come find us in the Monkey Puzzle pub in Paddington from 7pm!
