Waychains fixup, fixed up

Well this is embarrassing... (to quote the firefox rescue start-up screen when it fails to rescue anything)

I posted details of my waychains fixup tool, and alongside a red and green graph I commented that there had been very little progress with fixing interstates over the past few months. But it turns out that was bollocks. The actual graph should have looked more like this

Unfortunately I only have two valid data points now, but after a wee correction we're up to 721 paired refs, with the total number of different refs increasing to 1684. Percentagewise that an increase to 42% paired. Progress! Let's see what it looks like: All paired waychains map. Nice!

The reason for this screw up was... I was applying each daily diff, and then running the waychains analysis each day, but then accidentally picking up an old January planet each time, hence we saw some wiggling in the stats but no major change! Yesterday I fixed this. I fixed the update bug (hopefully) and shoved a fresh planet into the system. Apologies for the confusion. I must keep a closer eye on the log file in future.

So now we can see a newly refreshed waychains report. Some of the individual ref displays might be making more sense now (where stuff has been fixed recently). And happily the progress is looking better now as seen by the graph above, and the general increase in greenness of the list. I'm afraid I haven't figured out a heroes and villains list like Matt's dupe nodes heroes and villains. But from looking around the data, I'd say user:NE2 would be our main hero of US interstates fixup. He's been busy! Nice one!

I wouldn't call NE2 a hero, talk-us has several threads suggesting he's torquing the data.

"torquing the data" What does that mean?

I take it there's some tension between you two. Think I'll try and stay out of that one. Hope you can work it out though. There's enough work to do fixing up U.S. data without people squabbling!
