Fertige Karten von osm.wiki/index.php/User:Computerteddy runterladen; Legend ans USB anschließen; Einstellung/Schnittstelle/Knebel drücken; Karte gmapsupp.img in das Unterverzeichnis Garmin kopieren; Garmin neu starten.
Das setzt natürlich ein Zusatzspeicherkärtchen voraus.

Oh wow. Greetings to the other end of the world. I clicked the map link and tried to guess from the coordinates where you are located. Longitude 178 was rather easy to guess to be really far away compared to my 6, but surely I had not heard about Suva before. BTW: The island itself does not seem to have a name yet in OSM. Why that?

No one, of course. But if I see even two mappers having been active around the area, I think they know better many of the details and would like to fill them in. On the other hand, nothing happened there for a while. Maybe they got their wakeup call now:-)

Due to the horrible easter weather, I had time to learn about the data available (and partly provided on unclear but restrictive terms) by the Landesvermessungsamt Nordrhein-Westfalen (http://www.gis3.nrw.de/DienstelisteInternet/). Browsing through this data shows that this is real great data. It has every detail you ever want. While I really like the OSM initiative and find it quite entertaining to go mapping by bike, I must say that it is really sad, that this great set of data acquired and prepared by spending a lot of tax money is not really publicly available.-(

reading osm.wiki/index.php/Tag:highway%3Dcycleway I get the impression that cycleway as well as pedestrian are meant to be used inside residential areas or in parallel to roads. In the forest I would rather chose highway=track (see osm.wiki/index.php/Map_Features) and tag it as bicycle=yes. If it is not really wide, i would chose footway and nevertheless may add bicycle=yes depending on circumstances. But these are just my preferences.

He describes "audio mapping" and this seems to be quite practical. I urged him already to publish the plugin for Josm. Maybe he needs some more motivation:-)
