I mean, I will vote "yes" and I would even do so if it was public domain. And I am with Richard on the "losing data" issue.

After sleeping a night over it, I am pretty sure that I would even like Public Domain for my contributions. After all I am doing it as a hobby, I am learning a lot, I have fun and spent time doing something good for all people.

Please revert that import or ask someone to revert for you. Geonames are "tainted" and should not be imported to OSM. This is very sad that you spent so much time with this, but for the greater good this import is not good. :-(

Are the legal issues cleared? There is not only a huge privacy problem but the students also need to agree with the license used for tracks here at OSM.

The mapsurfer colours are wonderful (apart from footways). If only the official OSM map looked like this.
