My guess(having pondered this very same question many times)is that most people who dont speak/write the local language perhaps- A/dont care that they write the edits in the language of the country they are from. B/Cannot write the edits in english

My opinion is that all names should be in english/local language The map will start to look ridiculous with place names written in dozens of languages.They should all really be altered(but its a big task i know!) The only exceptions would be such as “casa verde” a spanish restaurant in Athens perhaps…
