Spammer suck!! Thanks a lot Folkerpeter for F-ing up my first Diary. Anyways, Does anyone know what would be the best GPS that would work well this this site? I like to go on hikes.

The OSM wiki has a lot of GPS reviews. (wish there was a preview option so I could see if I made a link)
And yes, spammers suck. They are parasites.

Don't like to advertise - but if I lost my current unit ( A Garmin Legend HCX ) I would simply buy another - they are that good - If I had a bit more cash I would look at the Oregon 450t. You will find that the functionality of the cheaper units can be a bit limiting once you start getting a little more serious about the mapping. At the least buy a unit that has a SD memory card so you have 'unlimited' caching length at 1 second caching, and have the ability to upload maps to the card built from the OSM data ( your own data ( MKGMAP ) or pre built maps from Cloudmade etc ) - good luck - bri

The garmin legend hcx's have a very good reputation around here.
You can load OSM data onto them and use them for navigation and see map data in real time.
If you just want something that makes tracks and is a lot cheaper, you could look at one of the simple loggers like the BT747A+. No screen, no SD cards, just a logger with a bluetooth and USB interface.

There are simple GPS loggers for 35 € (incl. shipping) available on eB*y for example. They are like a USB pen-drive. After coming home from the tour, you just download the data from the usb-dongle convert it to whatever format you like and upload it to OSM.
I just ordered one. I hope it will work fine!
I will blog my first results soon...
