Changeset When Comment

Just wanted to comment: I reverted N Empire Rd and Bard Creek Rd Back to tertiary since both the county and my Public Works contact at the town of Empire classify these two main roads as arterial roads for the area, as they connect Bard Creek Valley/North Empire settlement to US 40.

No problem at all! the sign at the national forest boundary is one of those big boards that shows a lot of info haha. but for the county maintained parts and for most of CR 50 the on ground signs just say CR 50, I've started to migrate the old common names to the alt_name tag and then "County road ##" to the main name tag since grand county only signs numbers now.

Sounds good, thanks for the info on that. For church park rd, I'll put church park rd in the alt_name so it can still be searched as such. The forest service signs actually currently do say something similar to Crooked Creek/Keyser Creek Rd once county maintenance ends on CR 50. And if I remember correctly from signs, CR 32 is just "Keyser Creek Rd"

Also, I think it might be best if the alt name "Church Park Road" be added to the USFS maintained part of the road since it is still the county's official name for CR 50 from CR 5 all the way to US 40, but I completely agree with you that the main name once the county maintenance ends should be crooked/keyser creek rd for CR 50;FR 139, or beaver creek rd for CR 50;FR 133.

Hi, it's great to know there are also other local editors here in grand county! I had a question about the edit to church park road, I believe from what I have found in the wiki that the ref tagging for forest roads is just ref=FR ###. I want to be sure if I was unaware of a convention, but I thought that ref:usfs=### might be deprecated, so that is why I tagged all of the forest service roads in grand to be ref=FR ###; I'm in the process of switching the ref=FS ### to FR.

I understand your concerns, but I am fixing these to correct standards and the most up to date knowledge, not incorrect whatsoever, those paths to the detention ponds only existed during construction of the new science center a year ago, and they no longer exist now, if anything they are at most a track/land access road, not everything needs to be mapped. A road that would maybe driven by one vehicle/cart a year like the tracks near the detention pound, plus the roads don’t even have a driveway apron, serves as a low volume land access road, not a general service road which is used for access to residential houses, buildings, parking lots, and more high traffic applications. This is the specific created use for a track/land access road. And the service road in front of the SIC center, if you live near here or have driven here you would know that the road was re-striped from its original one way configuration to be two ways last summer as the school found the one way to be inefficient during the 2023-24 school year. The bing aerials are outdated, and they should not be used to revert others edits as a source of evidence, and then proceed to calm them “Low quality”. These edits are not low quality at all. Many of the pedestrian paths were disconnected from roads too, so there would be no point in them being mapped if they are not connected to anything, as they aren’t routing efficiently. I am just fixing errors I am finding to be correct and up to standards

Please do not undo edits if you aren’t aware of the current road alignment, or mapping practices. Good mapping practice says that unless physically separated from the road, lanes should not be mapped independently from each other, all the right turn lanes mapped along Parker and Arapahoe rd make for a messy map. And also the correct alignment of this intersection if you have driven here recently, which this undoing of the edit show me that you haven’t, is that the right turn only lane from SB Parker onto WB e fair pl was converted to a straight & right turn combo lane. I don’t mean to come off as rude as your edits in Aurora look great, but undoing edits where you don’t know the current situation or mapping right turn lanes separately from the road when they shouldn’t be isn’t right.

Hi, I don’t believe these were low quality edits, I am a local here, I actually went to that high school a couple years back and, those are the gate road names specified by the school. Google and Waze both show them along with school provided gate names, these are the actual names of the entrance roads to the school parking lots.
