| Entering buildings REALLY quickly in JOSM, and how to make them ready for streetcomplete housenumber tagging | Some more thoughts - The X to extend buildings is incredibly useful, as is terracing which I’ve been doing a lot of recently. Being able to make accurate buildings quickly is awesome. The link for postcodes 404s, and the four captures on the Wayback Machine do the same thing. Unless there’s a replacement for it, I don’t think we can use that anymore. I will append something else to this especially if you’re just starting out: USE CADASTRAL PARCELS. They have brilliant (I believe perfect) alignment with buildings, and save the headache later. I’ve had to spend time moving roads, paths and streets worth of buildings to better alignments because it didn’t exist/wasn’t used at the time. It might also make identifying building shapes easier, but in this guide it also saves you time trying to guess how many terraces you need; you can just count the blue lines against imagery. Buildings seem to show in StreetComplete now without the custom tag modification - maybe something in the app or editors changed. Give it a few minutes before you download the data again. |

| Entering buildings REALLY quickly in JOSM, and how to make them ready for streetcomplete housenumber tagging | Very very useful, cheers. I’m having a crack at JOSM to see if I can speed up my edits. The iD editor does the job but progress can sometimes feel slow. I’d map it correctly the first time, but I can appreciate at least getting the basics nailed first. |
