Openstreet Map Probie

Posted by Enxsjp on 30 April 2015 in English.

I have previous experience in identifying features in historic and modern maps and I didn’t know that I could us this skill as a means of helping … but I do now!

So here I am, I hope that I may be able to help in any little way that I can and I am learning so much in the process, what OSM is about and how it can be used to help.

This is a brief, but hopefully friendly opening to why I am here and my experience today.

Hello and welcome to OSM! Your experience is very welcome, but be warned that OSM is … different from usual “maps”. Likely, you already noticed this. :-)

osm.wiki is your friend to look stuff up – it is our main documentation.

If you have any questions, you best ask them at https://help.openstreetmap.org/ (if you cannot find an identical older question there). Of course you also could write new entries in your “diary” (like this one) and talk about your edits and ask questions.

Happy mapping!

Thanks aseerel4c2 for all the advise, it is definitely different, challenging but good.
