This sort of thing is alwaysw disappointing - I spent a 1/2 day doing photo's, put them on the PC, spent the afternoon taking more, put them on the PC, found my new camera restarts the file names when you clear the card & had therefore overwritten the morning photos :(
Put it down to experience, and don't forget to take a photo of your GPS screen at the start of the session!

I have found that standing well back & taking a photo of the shopfronts is best, or just going in with a blank sheet & writing the names in sequance...

You might consider to give a fast scroll, maybe, also & , if you want even more work to do :)

Not to mention abroad - I've just come back from a Capital City (Gaborone) in Africa; when I went, it had just 2 roads. Google showed about 4. Now, it has a fair chunk of the basic structure there & some POI's. My previous holiday, I took the Garmin pre-loaded with the OSM map, and it was brilliant! Go on, do that with Google or OS...
