Hi Diogo,
Why did you delete multiple metro station objects, e.g. Picoas and Saldanha?

139294137 over 2 years ago

Fine by me as long as it's not tagged like an active route as it was before my change.
Although I would argue that a route rarely gets constructed, only it's infrastructure does ;)

Hier auch noch die ursprüngliche deutsche Definition als "Gesamthalt-Gruppe": osm.wiki/DE:Proposed_features/Public_transport_schema#Gesamthalt-Gruppe

138974353 over 2 years ago

Thanks for providing these additional documents. Seems like this information about exact layout of CWY and possibly RESA within (and the gold info about EMAS installment) is really only obtainable from AIPs and very hard from satellite imagery.
Which leaves two questions:
1. Are AIP (locally/globally) a valid source for adding information to OSM?
2. Can we agree on and document a scheme for mapping clearways, RESA and EMAS in OSM? In the past there was quite a mix between clearway, stopway, blast pads in OSM and some verifiable exact description is really necessary for these to work. Are you interested in working out a really comprehensive tagging scheme for all things around runway infrastructure?

Yes, correct. I'm not on the ground there to be able to validate the name information though.

If that's the reality on the ground, it should probably updated. You might already be aware, but the primary language question is a heated topic in that region. Knowing a bit about Iran's shortcomings in recognizing local cultures I would expect all official signage (city limit signs, official buildings etc) to be in Persian, so probably it's still fair to maintain that as the primary on the ground language.

You are right that clearway is better suited as an area object.

Seems it's time to review a bunch of stopway objects in Russia then :P

131477562 over 2 years ago

Looking at this Video it seems indeed the lines are operated with left hand traffic: https://youtu.be/vWp-L49liOA?t=212
I'm updating the route relations accordingly now

Hi,
The tagging scheme using "wikipedia:<LANGUAGE_CODE>" is outdated and out of use and discouraged for quite a while in OSM. Article language variants can be obtained via wiki interlinking on the wikipedia page or the wikidata information. The wikipedia tag should link to the article in the most common on the ground language which seems to be Persian from what I could tell from tagging practice in the area.

Very good question and I'm confused that BKK is using different colours for their network map diagram and publishing via GTFS. Just checked the date stamp on the BKK diagram and that was last updated on 10th of July 2023 so I would consider that as the latest source of truth.

Might be worth reaching out to the BKK team to let them know of this data discrepancy.

Hi, thanks for revewing this change. I am seeing tower:type=communication in tagging practice being primarily used to tag towers that house communication antenna (mobile tower, directional communication antenna etc.). Unfortunately, the OSM wiki documentation is not very specific in defining this tag.
I don't think this tag applies to an airport control tower since the purpose of building this tower is to observe ground (and incoming/outgoing runway) traffic on the airport. I would say that tower:type=observation is more suitable therefor and I've already seen airport traffic control towers being tagged this way. Ideally though I think it would deserve a new tag like tower:type=atc or tower:type=control_tower since it's a distinct tower type constructed for this purpose.
What do you think?

Thanks for providing the airport chart for additional context as it's hard to tell stopways and clearways apart in many Russian airports since they often lack the distinctive runway markings.
I would still suggest to tag the clearway outlines as area:aeroway=clearway and add a linear aeroway=clearway along the runway axis.

Hallo Julian,

Hi Lamassu,
You added most of the Kerbala International Airport grounds as part of this changeset and quoted "Esri World Imagery" as source. While I can see the Western runway under construction in ESRI imagery, there is no trace of the Eastern runway and the central terminals. Are these already construction finished today? All information I could find online lead me to believe that this airport is still far from finished in June 2023. Do you have some more up to date sources?
