Hi! I'm a new user from Tasmania, Australia, who recently stumbled across this site from the fantastic iPhone application "MotionX". I use this to record trails I have ridden on my mountain bike as there are many in the wild foothills right on my doorstep. I have found that practically none of these are on openstreetmap as yet so it is my intention to get the ball rolling (or bike, I should say) and start tracing these right away! I have one trail so far, that I will trace tonight. With the help of a friend and hopefully people from the community, I will have a wonderful biking resource available thanks to openstreetmap.org!

WAKE UP Burnzoire - you are dreaming. This site does not exist. I can't stand by and watch your delusions hurt the ones you love! Your "iPhone" is a 1980s Gameboy. Admit it.

Welcome to the team :). It's nice to see more Australian mappers around the place, we're pretty thin on the ground for the most part.

MTB trails are one of the areas that OSM can excel above most other sources. Mainly because MTB trails shift and change a lot (basically after every big storm :p) and because the bulk of them are illegal, so commercial mapping companies don't have an interest in them. That, and they're not in council databases so they don't get caught up in mass imports when whereis/google/whatever gather their data.

Anyway, have fun :).
